YURVIEW: Thank you, much appreciated..

Zach-R: Ya, we feel the same way. Although, I dont think the factory is up for much R&D. We ripped them pretty hard for sending us four batches without asking us first.

Got my Speed Engineering 1 7/8 race headers a few weeks ago and finally installed them this past weekend. Other than a couple plug wires sitting very close to the primaries on the passenger's side (which may just be the wires' fault), they are perfect. Excellent fit and finish, very straight flanges, the bolt holes all lined up perfectly, and work great with my Phab x-pipe. For $300 shipped, I couldn't ask for anything better. Great product

Installed the 1 7/8 race header with catless y-pipe, mated to a GMMG catback this setup sounds amazing! While some of the clamps weren't very useful, I replaced them all when welding up the system. Thanks Speed Engineering for the great product.

Either of you guys installed the new batch with the new collector? I'd really like to see some pictures other than what's on the website before I decide.

Not sure what you mean buy new collector (wasn't aware they had made any changes). But I placed my order March 23rd so they would have had to make changes since then which I don't see very likely. Mine have a pretty nice merge spike in the collector. What exactly are you wanting pictures of?

Edit: just went back and read the last page, so I guess I got a prototype set. Haven't had the car to the track yet or dynoed, but I have personally seen 3 sets of 1 7/8th tsp headers brand new and of course mine, and I would say there is very little to no difference in quality or craftsmanship. I say jump on these with the merge while you can. Great figment and I'm sure any differences in power are negligible

I ordered them last week and will be here on Thursday. I plan on putting them on this weekend and will try to get some pics of it.

Seems like I cannot get rid of leaks around the clamps on the Y-pipe.

Has anyone here removed the clamps and just had the pieces welded together? Any drawbacks?

paradigmGT: Those Magnaflow clamps we talked about earlier should do the trick.

Sean, those Magnaflow clamps look identical in design to the clamps your y-pipe came with, no?

I do not see how this would be an improvement.

So is there an issue with these new batch versions? That the quality isn't there? I'd like to order but a bit scared to, any idea when the next batch of your original design will be in?
Thanks!

paradigmGT: Ya, they are different. Magnaflow has stronger bolts, the bands under the bolts are double layered, and they have a center wedge which helps with bolt flex as well. All around much stronger clamp.

kicker: Quality/Fitment etc is all identical. It was just the collector change we talked about a little earlier.

Thanks

Our 1 3/4" will have spikes when the new batch arrives. We only have two left of the current batch, which do not. All 1 7/8" already have spikes yes.

Thanks

So just to clarify, the 1 7/8" mistake batch is still the same header, will have the same fitment, etc... the only difference is the skinny part on the collector? It's still a 3" collector at the end that will work with the same y pipes that the original ones would work with, and they will still bolt onto an LS1 F body exactly the same as the original 1 7/8" longtubes?

Yes. This isn't the ideal collector, but it will work with the Y pipe.

Edit:

Just ordered a set of the 1 7/8". Sean was a pleasure to work with over the phone. Couldn't believe they are shipping the same day! Will post pics once they're received and installed. Can't wait!
