Default How to do your own EGR provision on a LS6 manifold?

I'm going to pick up a LS6 manifold for $350 with coolant plugs and such. What all do I need to do my own egr provision like the SLP intake? I don't feel like spending $465 plus $26 for shipping for theirs since it seems like it's just a brass fitting. So what do I need and how do I do it? Thanks!

Are you needing to keep the egr/air system on the car, or can you remove them?

Well, I'm not really sure what I want to do with it actually. We have visual emmissions here, but nothing serious like hooked up to a computer or anything. I kinda wanted to keep it there just in case I got a hard time for not having it. Plus I really don't think i'll lose any power if I leave it there.

On the other hand, what is involved for removing the EGR? What does it look like after you're done?

not sure if they still sell it but LPE used to make an EGR provison for the ls6 intake you could add on. it was like 150 bucks.

Haha, I just can't picture how that thing sits on the intake!

I'll probably just go with the SLP since I don't have much of an option.

only logical way is to cut the hole out of the intake and then put the egr provision. but that begs my question on how does it seal up.

I would try a hardware store and look for a compression fitting. That all the slp fitting looks like. I going to try that. A piece of plastic for $150 seems crazy.

I would say just delete it it's much easier that way IMO I took mine off, and it was easy. The only hard part was removing the pump from the bottom side of the car on the drivers side, under the fuse box and headlight. If you have to have the egr provison I would buy the slp so you don't have to worry about vacum leaks and the compression fitting not sealing up once you cut out the area.

The LPE works great I put it on my old LS6 intake, you just set it in the cavity for the egr on the intake and use a hole saw to cut the hole then I took it out and cleaned up the cut edges and used the silicon on the bottom of the adapter and set it back in and it looks completly stock just like the LS1 intake.

I installed it on mine and it works great. You set the block in place, mark the hole, remove the bolck, cut out the hole then the block goes in with sealer. Takes about 45 minutes to get it all done, seals up realy well, and your EGR plumbing slides in just like stock

So you'd say that sealant is strong enough to not rip out?

The block is a tight fit - without the sealant it would probably hold, with the sealant it's not going anywhere.

I think that thing would be cake to install. All you need is a dremel tool to do it. Use some epoxy to glue it in and them maybe some RTV to make sure it's sealed.
