Pulling Ls1 from 2002 Camaro need some help
Hi everyone
Been doing engine builds and swaps for along time. That said the Ls1 Fbodys seem a bit unique . Just wonder whats the best way to pull the engine. I have a cherry picker . Threw the top or bottom. How much time does it take etc. I need to replace the bearings in my ls1 and have the crank turned . taking this time to do cam, heads, headers and some some support stuff like timing chain and oil pump .
I have some tools a $200 set and then allot of random 1s I got over the years.any must need tools just let me know . I got wheel stands spare tires on rims if i need to set it on them to get it higher .I will be doing this in my shop which is 500Sq Feet and has A/C so no issue there .
If theirs a thread for this just link it . Also If you live in middle TN and wanna trade Computer Tech work for Wrench time im a I.T engineer.
Any pics/video or tutorials would be awesome wanna get some stuff out of the way today . Thanks everybody.

I have done it through the top, twice. Once with the transmission (A4)attached and also without. To get enough reach from my hoist I had to remove the front bumper cover and foam filler. I also removed my radiator and the front accessories off the engine. Didn't need to remove the hood.
I wasn't confident I could get the car high enough in my garage to pull from the bottom so going through the top worked for me.

Go smoother you say?
Take it out the top, that way you don't have to screw with brake lines and disconnecting a ton more ****.
If you've been doing engine swaps and builds for a long time don't bother looking for a video or thread. It's straight forward like anything else.

I pulled mine from the bottom, left the trans bolted up,I removed the k- member and motor/trans;after the steering shaft , driveshaft, wiring, fuel, and brakes were disconnected. But i have a 2 post lift. Also i got a buncha other little stuff to do bodyworkwise underneath
