There's 2 sizes of adapters. THey changed over in some year or other. I think it was in the late 00s but I'm not sure.
No biggie though, the whole adapter just unscrews from out of the pan. It's like a 22mm hex or thereabouts. Just take the one out of your old pan and put it in the new one.
Or, look up the filter for a 2014 truck or some such, and see if the filter is different from the one you've been using, and use that one instead.

You're right sjsingle, I'm not sure what I was thinking of that's 22mm... the adapter has an allen in the center.
But yeah, either change the adapter, or use the later-model filter. Just look it up for a newer vehicle. No need in outsmarting yourself over what thread it is.
