Default Turn signal on solid???!!

Ok like the subject says, my turn signal only comes on solid(does not flash)... both sides. Trying to brainstorm what to look for tomorrow so any help would be appreciated. Right now all I can think of is the turn signal is controlled by a relay/fuse that might have gone bad. If that might be the case anyone know where the relay/fuse is? ...in the ignition wiring harness?

Any help is appreciated.

Dave

I just installed MAC midlength headers and the problem showed up after. Anything I could have hit or some wire that could be getting burned on the header to cause this?

Sounds like your flasher is bad. It should be a little black box or a little round silver looking thing under the dashboard up close to the firewall. They sell them at auto parts stores for like 5 bucks. Looks almost like a relay.

When they are blown they don't blink at all. THe inside light will be solid to the blown side.

When your blinker is solid, this means that your turning signal is blown, I think most likely its in the front. This just happened on my Camaro.

not your bulbs more than likely.... pull of the panel under the steering wheel with a scredriver an 7mm socket. You will see a round aluminum gizmo somewhere under there. This is your blinker flasher. Take it out, and go to Autozone and get a new one for $5.

Same thing happened to me. The front socket was melted and crossed the lines. Replaced the pigtail and bulb.

Bummer. Guess it could be a bulb/socket related issue. Mine started hanging and I just replaced the flasher relay.

Turn on your 4-ways & check if all the bulbs work. Then R&R that flasher with your turn signals (you can hear if clicking when the flasher is running to find it). At this point you should know what it isn't, and most likely what it is. (meaning if one of those steps didn't isolate the problem, start checking the wiring)

I replaced the flasher and that worked, thanks for the help everyone. Took me a second to find it since it was clipped bhind the metal to the right of the steering column. Replaced it with a similar one from autozone that the dude said would work and it does. Also it is much more quiet.
