The loudmouth 1 is a sraight through with out much of a baffle inside, the lm2 is straight through, but has some packing around a center tube that has a bunch of holes drilled around it.
They are the same similar in noise, but the lm2 has less rasp- the harsh noise to it.

The car you heard probably had long tubes and no cats if it was louder than a cut out. a cut out will be louder than the loudmouth 1 or 2.
Look here for some sound clips. www.ls1sounds.com

**** that bunk, if u want a good sounding catback without going to true duals, go for the hooker. The best/most refined "loud" catback without all the issues and is very cheap(as apposed to the Gmmg)

I just put the LM 1 on my 02 Z28 about a month ago. About 4k RPM it does sound like a nascar. I love the sound of my car now, I find my self shifting it my self just to hear it at 4k RPMs with out speeding.

The loudmouth 2 is what is known as a modular design. It has the capability to have one muffler unbolted and a different replace it. The shotgun refers to the type of muffler, the shotgun is the loudest of the ones available and closely resembles the loudmouth 1 setup. I believe there are 3 mufflers available for the loudmouth 2, shotgun, bullet, and a turbo flow type muffler. (listed loudest to quitest).
If you want ***** out loud the loudmouth is the loudest cat back on the market. I love mine, at idle it rumbles a little, between 1500 - 2500 it sounds a little unrefined but 3k and above it just screams and sounds amazing.
Another good thing about the loudmouth is that it is very light. I dropped about 10 - 15 pounds going from the dual/dual to the loudmouth, also very cheap for a full stainless cat back.

Put the L/M II on my 02 M6 Z two weeks ago and I think it sounds great, especially the popping on downshifts and the awesome sound on WOT. This with the FRA, SLP lid sonunds really good.

i have true duals and my friend has loudmouth 1 and mine is louder at idle and at WOT mine is louder and doesnt have all that rasp. IMO the loudmouth sounds like **** especially when you let off and its raspy as hell, go true dual if you want a loud exhaust and want to sound like a musle car

If you really want to sound evil and different, you should look into getting a 3 1/2 custom exh set-up, or if you want to shake the house down you should go with the 4 inch. I have dynomax 3 1/2 on mine and its bad, but it was a little costly because there was a little trouble hooking up my Y-pipe because of the size diff. This will aslo be a really good exhaust system if you want to run nitrous too.

Sorry it took so long to get back to ya. Free Ram Air mod, go to www.installuniversity.com and check it out. Really easy mod and you'll feel a little more seat of the pants acceleration and the intake air sound is pretty cool too.
