True Dual Help...
Can someone help me with true duals. I have gone to three separate places in town that won't rig me up a true dual. All three for different reasons. One, because it can't be done, another because they can't mess with the catalytic converters because it would mess up the sensors and violate EPA or something (also because it can't be done), and the third because a hi flow muffler would be just as good (that's when they tried to sell me a flowmaster muffler). Can someone help me out on how to do it myself. I have a friend who can weld and everything, but can't mandrel bend so we figured we'd have that done at the shop. I'd like to go over the axel. Also, I need to have cats in my city, cops are real bad, anyone recommend good ones. Any info appreciated. I don't know what I am doing, I am frustrated, I want duals and no one here will help me out. If you can recommend someone in Iowa or in this region, that would be great.

All the shops have valid points, although a flowmaster is one of the worst flowing mufflers for our cars.
Ive fabbed up my own true duals a few times now. I keep making revisions and redesigns. I have a small welder, and angle grinder, and I had bought lots of straight pipe and U bends to cut up from summit and jegs. You can find great deals on ebay on carsound cats and magnaflow mufflers, both of which are good components to fab up your own exhaust.
If your designing from scratch, you might want to start out right away with both sides going over the passenger side axle. Either get the BRP upper PHB relocation kit of just remove it completely. Its much easier than trying to fit on over each side. Running both over the pass side allows for much higher ground clearance, since it follows where the stock exhaust tucks up. Also, the more bandclamps you use throughout the system, the more adjustable and tweakable it will be once its on the car.

The problem w/ the Bassani is that it's $900 and I don't even want the bassani mufflers. I was hoping for Sweet Thunder. I'm in Cedar Rapids, IA (Marion to be exact). I just don't know what to expect price-wise. I want to run it out the back, Sweet Thunder chambered exhaust, with cats (cops will kill me here). Anyone give me any idea on what to expect for price, and how the heck I'm supposed to go about getting this. $900 is fine if I am getting exactly what I want. If I'm not, it's not worth $900. Thanks guys for your help.

ok then. you didn't specify what you wanted. but just to let you know, bassani also offers the system in aluminized for 799.00. yes i heard you, you don't even want the bassani muffler.
here's a thought to help you out though. might want to get pics of lane's system and the bassani system. then have your friend or an exhaust shop look at the pics and see how it's done. then you'll have what you want. and they can se how it goes over the axle on the right side without the need for aftermarket suspension parts.

You can read my post there if you like.
If you can weld, you can put together a over the axle system. Just buy mandrel bends, and use your stock exhaust as filler pieces in your duals. No need to relocate the panhrad bar if you are going 2.5" over the axle.
