TSB on Radiator Caps
Does anybody remeber the TSB issued a ways back on '01 Camaro radiator caps?
Mine has developed a tiny leak and I figure I cn forestall any arguments with a copy, but I lost it.
Anyone know where I can get a copy?
Thanks
BobP

Re: TSB on Radiator Caps
I took my '01 in for this campaign. It is campaign #00105. Unfortunately, my letter states this expires Dec. 31st, 2001.

Re: TSB on Radiator Caps
Here's the only TSB I saw concerning the radiator cap -
Engine - Running Hot And/Or Loss of Coolant
Bulletin No.: 00-06-02-001
File In Section: 06 Engine/Propulsion System
Date: January, 2000
Subject: Engine Running Hot, Overheating and/or Loss of Coolant (Polish Radiator Filler Neck and Replace Radiator Cap)
Models:
1999-2000 Passenger Cars and Trucks with Composite Radiator End Tank
Condition: Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:
^ Engine running hot
^ Engine overheating, and/or
^ Loss of coolant/low coolant message
Cause: The radiator filler neck may have an imperfection in the sealing surface.
Correction
Important: DO NOT REPLACE THE RADIATOR.
Using a piece of 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper backed with a flat piece of wood, polish the filler neck sealing surface using a circular motion.
Replace the radiator pressure cap with a cap of the same part number as shown in the GM Service Parts Catalog.
Warranty Information
For vehicles repaired under warranty, use:
Labor Operation: J3020

Re: TSB on Radiator Caps
HAHA - I was reading through the "diagnostic" steps for coolant loss - check this one out:
STEP 2
1. Check for a distorted radiator fill neck.
2. If the upper sealing area of the fill neck is distorted, use a wood block and a mallet to reshape the neck in order to fit the cap.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THE SERVICE MANUAL TELLS THE MECHANIC TO BEAT THE RADIATOR WITH A MALLET!!!
I'm sorry, but this is so rediculous, it's funny. No wonder we think there's a bunch of monkies working at the dealership!!! They're being instructed to beat things with mallets!

Re: TSB on Radiator Caps
I remember that recall for the caps...i have an 01 A4. I took it to the dealer and they replaced it no problem...i dont think they polished the filler neck though. and i never saw any change in my temp, or motor performance.
