Default Anyone know any free tricks to richen up my car?

For some while now, my car has been steadily running leaner and leaner. The last time I a-tapped, my O2's were .865-.880. That was with a stock, de-screened MAF and the mods in the sig.. Pretty much ever since I've bought my car brand new 2 years ago, it has had audible detonation. I installed NGK TR-6's at about 5k miles to try and compensate for the detonation, but they haven't seemed to help any, and I've been running them ever since, and I'm now at 61k miles. I've tried gaps anywhere from .35, to where I'm at now, which is .44. I've tried turning my stock MAF around backwards, didn't help, fuel filter has been changed several times, my buddy let me borrow his Granatelli MAF that was richened 5% for nitrous, but even then it still detonated. I think the reason it detonated was, although the MAF sensor itself was richened, the ported ends were leaning it out to enough to still allow me to detonate. So, I tried the Granatelli sensor with my stock ends, and I threw codes for being too rich! So, what do you guys reccomend i try? I'm completely at a loss now, and I know there's got to be somebody out there that know's more about what to do than I do!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have read that turning the MAF around backwards will make it run richer.

How about a stock, screened MAF? Got a bud you can borrow one from? At least it'll give you a baseline.

How about put the stock screen back on the MAF?

You're running cold plugs which is really not a bright idea. Try some TR55s with gaps in the .50-.55 range, not nitrous/forced induction plugs.

Or just buy a MAFT like everyone else does.

Sorry, not free, but smart

I thought I'd also mention, that you've lived with detonation and a lean motor for 61k miles? Don't plan on keeping your stock motor for very long, do you?

I've already tried a stock, screened MAF, and turned my MAF around backwards, still runs lean.

And as far as me running w/detonation all the time, you must be ignorant, because everywhere I go is obviously not WOT. The detonation doesn't occur until 4500 and above, so I keep my foot out of it, unless I'm a-tapping.

Look man, I know you were trying to help, but next time, try and tone the sarcasm down, it doesn't help.

Oh, BTW, in case you didn't read the title of this post, it says FREE tips or tricks.....that kinda rules out the purchase of something, wouldn't ya think? I'm trying to do everything I can to fix the situation without dropping the $$$ on MAFT for a mild bolt-on car, it's just not worth it to me.

I'll figure something out......hopefully.

Put some unleaded race gas in it, and if you're still getting detonation, then its false knock. Have your heads been milled? Do you have a hypertech programmer installed on it? What mods have you done to it?
