FLP's and Hotcam installed today.
Some quick notes on the whole install - no issues with clearance of the FLP's (oil drain plug or steering gear) and no floor banging like some have reported (they did redesign the y-pipe though). The car idles with the hotcam no prob, just a little lumpety lumpety *L*. The car now rolls the DR's over at will at anything above 3 grand rpm in first gear and annilates 'em on the 1-2 shift as well. My next plan was for 4.10 gears, I'm going to have to re-evaluate that with my newfound traction "problems" :-/
Gonna hit the track this weekend for some hard numbers .

george, that's a nice feature with the FLP's - you can pop the cats in/out in a matter of minutes.
Hope your Track times are good. I'm completly happy with the hotcam. Just other things i need like heads and intake...

So you are running the hotcam with only MAFT and having no problems ? I would love to put a cam in but was just unsure of how my A4 would react to a Hotcam or similar without tuning.

I'm using the MAFT, HPP3, and ATap for "tuning"...such as it is *L*. That's more to correct the rich condition caused by the headers though than to make adjustments for the cam. So to answer your question - no problems . Mine is a 6-speed though, I've read that with an automatic the idle may be a bit low/erratic (can be corrected by drilling the hole larger in the throttle plate) - that's not a big deal though. Even with a 6-speed a friend with a '02 and the hotcam had to drill the thottle plate to raise the idle - runs perfect now .
Tim, those are great numbers for a hotcam/headers car! I'd be happy as a pig in **** if I can anywhere near that *L* - I'm currently battling some (false) KR issues.... KR

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Throw in the offroads and get the 4.10s you will drop about 4 tenths from that alone with hook
cheers,
Chris
Man, I don't know about the 4.10's now what with how bad traction is already on Nitto's LOL! Got the winter to think about it though...heading to the track this Sunday to get some times. A buddy with a '02 WS6 MN6 has pretty well the exact mods as I do right down to the Borla and clear lid. He had his Hotcam and FLP's installed just before last track day and his times dropped from a best of 13.1x at 109ish to 12.7 at 113 on Nitto's! And that was before we did some ATaping and leaning out with a MAFT. Myself, I'll be MORE than happy with anything beginnging with "12" *L*.
The angle of the pics don't show it well, but the clearance from the headers to the steering knuckle is well over an inch and about an inch and a half between the oil drain plug and the headers. The y-pipe hangs at about the same level as stock.
