Those look good for the price they look similar to mine except are half as short it looks like. Plus MTI has some that look similar http://www.motorsporttech.com/fbody_exhaust01.asp

Kinda hard to turn down 40 dollar cats.

Worst thing that could happen is the material that goes between the catalyst and the inner wall of the housing breaks down, and the ceramic crumbles in 6 months. They're cheap though, so it's not like you'll be out a lot of cash if that happens.

I was wanting to build my own TD setup and still keep the cats in place, all on a budget, and was wondering if these would be any good.

I've heard of the same kinda thing happening with Magnaflow/carsound cats as well. That's what made me think about it with these after seeing the pic. And it could also just be a small percentage of them that have the problem, and on cars running extra rich. I had a couple of carsound cats on my truck, 96 dodge ram 2500 v10, and had no problems with them. Stupid thing though, is I used them to replace the stockers that I gutted and ended up hating the sound of.

I have a set of those on my C5 and they are more than worth the money. I lost only 2 hp with using these. You won't regret it.

If you notice the cell density on the random tech's, you'll see why they flow so much more. The new magnaflow high flow's are even more open than the random tech's.
