Uncatted Car Ticket
Does anyone know the fine for having an uncatted y-pipe if the cops happen to notice? Im particularly interested in knowing for New Jersey but if you know the fine for other states I wouldn't mind hearing them.

I would imagine that it would be some sort of "fix it ticket". Meaning either you fix it or have to pay the fine. That would be one harcore cop to look under a car just to issue a sitation, but anything's possible I guess.

What you could do if you want to run an ory is to put fake cats on the pipe, put the heat shields around the y pipe, and unless the cop has a portable exhaust gas anlyser, he won't be any the wiser if he gets down and looks under the car.
And yes it is a very high dollar fine, depending on the state it can be up to $3k per cat

I've never heard of of it happening around here. I would imagine that if a cop ever brought it up and you weren't an *** about it they would issue a fix-it ticket. Just play dumb and tell them you saw it on the 'net! I'm getting my LT's and ORY installed right now and I'm running a LM so I guess I'd better take it easy!

In reality very few cops are going to make the effort to get down and look under the car for cats, you'd really have to **** one off, or be a real *** to get that kind of treatment (unless you're in the Peoples Repulik of Kalifornia)

When a cop pulled me over for loud exhaust he went to the back of my car and was rusling around with my pipes. Scared the **** out of me. He issued me a fix-it-ticket but only because I had the car for less than 10 days and I just capped the cutout lol.

For the why, if he wants to f*ck with you he can, because he's a cop, and that's all the reason they need, the desire to

I was pulled over last year for a "road side" inspection. He went through everything from my wipers to my horn. He tried to get underneath to look for cats, but the shoulder added to my lowered car/SFCs prevented that.
I lucked out, he knew what he was going for.
