Default Jet Hot Coated Hookers came in today

They came in today and they are REALLY NICE!!!

BUT.....after the WOW factor died down I relized the O2 extensions and the install directons are not in the box. I know this happenes a lot, but still.....when I pay $579 for coated headers, I exspect to get EVERYTHING! Hooker (or Jet Hot if its their fault) needs to get their act together on the packing.

Two good things though,

1) The Dr. Gas x-pipe came in yesterday (also VERY NICE )

2) The Edelbrock torque arm I ordered came in with the headers today (also nice ). It does not have all the adjustment and stuff but I don't drag race. I just wanted a stiffer torque arm and the $170 price was impossible to pass up.

Now...if I can just get my damned O2 extensions and install directons, I will be all set

Later guys

The 12" extensions cost almost 20 bucks apiece. Most people purchase 2 extensions (one for each front O2 sensor).

This may save yourself an extra $20 :

What may be done is to swap the driver side and passenger side front O2 sensors. Then use a 12" extension on the passenger side only.

Got this tip from Thunder racing....

Speedfreaks101 sent me a private message (hope you don't mind me posting it but the info might help someone else).

"Man I need a huge favor. I am looing for a set of long tubes and I am getting all the technical information about all the headers I can. I know that the Hookers have 10 in collectors and 1 3/4 in diameter primaries. The thing that I need is the length of the longest tube and the length of the shortest tube out of all eight primaries. Hooker calims 1.5 inches difference. If you could measure it for me before you put them on I would greatly appreciate it."

well.....don't hold me on my measurements, but here are all the primary lengths:

#1 = 38"
#2 = 34"
#3 = 31"
#4 = 33"
#5 = 33"
#6 = 33"
#7 = 32"
#8 = 31"

thats just a "little" off from Hooker's 1.5" difference between longest and shortest.

I've heard of this happening a few times. I think all those people just called Jet Hot and they sent out the extensions like the next day. I'm sure they'd do the same with the instructions, since all i've heard about jet hot is about how great their customer service is.

Same thing happened to me with my Hooker LT's, I was short 1 O2 extension. I contacted Chris at Jet-Hot and had him send me out an extra one. It took awhile to get it but I was in no big hurry at the time though. I would give him a call and have him send you one out. I think Holley/Hooker needs to get their act together when they ship these out to make sure everything is there.

My Hooker Long Tubes direct from Jet Hot:

I like the design of the Hookers better so the money isn't really the issue. However, the quality of the set Hookers I got sucks!

Primaries needed slag ground down inside primary where joined to the flange.

Flange surfaces needed filing to make to smooth it out in a few places.

O2 bung welded in the wrong place. Have to grind out the metal because it's misaligned or the O2 sensor won't be in the exhaust stream. Well actually it's so badly aligned the O2 couldn't be screwed all the way in as 2/3 of the hole was covered.

1/4 inch gap that wasn't welded. Gap was so bad you could blow compressed air thru it!

Natually, all this repair work has ruined the coating in a few spots. If anyone is considering buying a set of Hookers, I suggest get the headers uncoated and clean this stuff up then send them back and get them coated.

Check your Hookers very carefully or you may get a few problems you don't want. If you aren't sure what took check for get someone that knows Hookers to check them out first.

I don't think Jet Hot should have to fix Holley/Hooker's quality issues.
