I put flanges on the headers and right before the pipes going over the axle so I can drop out the center sectiong for removing the trans/ds/torque arm ect. It just makes it faster to service the car if needed.

Here's my dual setup. I made it in 2 days skipping lunch at work. It's all 2.5". Idk if it's just the butt dyno or what but I feel more power over the ypipe and rumbler catback. No more rasp around 2-2.5k rpm.

I used the summit mandrel kit.

This the the tsp ypipe on top of the xpipe for comparison.

smaller pipe also makes less resonance. not sure why you would want a smaller y pipe other than ground clearance, which can be achieved with a flattened 3" pipe. dont know your mods. might have cost you some power.

Smart, Your car sounds exactly like mine. I like the flange idea.

I asked this in a different thread, but I decided to get smart and post my Q where it belongs.

I have about $400 to spend, and I'm wanting a LT/true dual setup. My plans are to buy a set of used headers from here, and possibly an x pipe if someone has one laying around. If not, I plan on going with the Summit kit. As far as mufflers go, I plan on using a pair of bullet style ones a friend has laying around (Free ). My question is can I stay at, or below $400 if I have a shop bend all the tubing for me? I can weld it together, I just need someone to have it bent/mocked up.

I curently have TSP rumbler bullets, and its pretty quiet. I am thinking of switching to a 1 chamber flowmaster or a dynomax bullets.

Just wondering whats the sound difference between the 2. I ran dynomax bullets and loved how loud the car was. Just wondering how the 1 chambers compare? Do they flow really well? How is the fitment? Thanks fellas.

They are definitely a different fitment. 1chambers give the LT/LS platform more of a classic sound vs the dynomax. Search for my post in this thread, I have a few sound clips of the flows.

If i am correct TSP rumbler bullets are dynomax bullets so if you switched to dynomax bullets you would have the same exact product. How ever as an idea how about classic chambered powerstick?

Medium powerstick 3" in and out

Just noticed that TSP finally released their true dual system in stainless steel. I'm ordering next week, can't wait to see how it'll sound and perform.

I'm not reading all 50 pages, sorry, but I do have some questions...

1) I didn't see this on post 1, but what about the oval pipes. Is there a difference in flow with a 3" round pipe and a 3" oval pipe?

2) What about Nascar style Boom Tube exhausts? Has anyone run them on an Fbody?

3) I was told that true dual dumps, pre axle, will cause you to lose power vs full length true duals. Is this true?

1) Oval will flow same as round and maybe better because it should in theory create more velocity because of the taper. As long as the area of the pipe is same.

2) Yes they have and they flow great and have decent clearance but are loud as hell and will rasp like hell.

3) Flat out BS
