Catback with Stock Manifolds
99 LS1
Here is my dilema guys (i can't get the search to work either)...I want to change out my Flowmaster 80 series muffler and go with a free-er flowing catback exhaust. I wouldn't mind going with an ORY to get rid of the cats, but I do not plan to run Longtubes anytime soon (not in the next few years). This car is my daily driver and I don't want to start doing headers and everything right now, cause once I do that step i won't stop til it has cam and all the goodies. I am wondering what will be a good, deep, and loud setup with or without the stock cats but definately with the stock manifolds. I was thinking I could do a true duals setup and go with bullets or 1 chambers, but i didn't know if it was worth doing without replacing the headers. I am doing this more for sound than anything so any light shed my way would be awesome. I am leaning towards doing the SLP Loudmouth cause I hear it's amazing on stock manifolds. Let me know guys. Thanks a ton.

if you want nice sound, the most simple solution is to just change your muffler. if you want a bit more sound, switch to headers, no cats, do a y pipe and stock catback, it sounds great.
I had it for over 2 years with the stock manifolds and Y, and sound was amazing, definately makes the car sound like it has a lot more than it does. And how can you get anything that flows better than what is essentailly an open pipe the whole way back from the Y. Since you're not planning on headers anytime soon, the loudmouth is the affordable way to make a bit more power and a lot more noise.

The loudmouth setup allows you to swap in and out different mufflers, so you can tweak the sound if you want. The loudmouth setup is probably your best bet if you are on a budget (if you are always going to run stock manifolds).
