Default Water problems with debaffling/sealing the WS6 hood?

I'm getting ready to *maybe* debaffle my hood and seal it to the air box, IF you guys tell me there are no problems with water. For some reaosn I'm really worried about it. I'm going to try not to drive it in the rain, but I can tell you now it is going to happen off and on. Will doing that cause any problems with water? I really would like to keep this car for a while .

dude, this is YOUR car, if you dont feel comfortable, dont do it. the chances of it damaging the car are slim but be aware it is *possible* and *has* happened before to people. If I were you personaally, id make some kind of block-off plate for the front of the airbox, and have a CAI like the SLP kind of some kind with a block-off plate you can take out for bad weather and seal off the front of the airbox.

I haven't had any problems with water on mine, if I do happen to get into a serious downpour, I have 2 pieces of foam that I can stick in the nostrils, and it blocks the rain out
FWIW unless you like using your T/A as a submarine, you shouldn't have any problems other than the filter getting dirty/damp

Hahaha, no, I don't like using the trans am as a submarine. I just recently got an old mazda navajo to drive when its raining and snowing and stuff, but the only problem is I live about 30 minutes from home right now(at college) so I only have one or the other pretty much the whole week, so I might get stuck having to drive it through rain sometime.

Another question is, I like he sound of those block-off plates, and I saw a guy that had some clear ones that were cool, but wouldn't that choke the engine for air if the nostrils are sealed to the airbox? Like nowhere else for air to come from?

heres your answer. block off the nostrils, but have a CAI kit like the SLP or SSRA and use it during bad weather

Hmmm.... now I don't what to do... lol. I was going to do it because it's cheap... Would doing the free ram air mod and somehow cover it during good weather? Would there be some way of keeping something sealed over the FRA hole? (and obviosly not get sucked up to the filter )

If you can order a rain blockoff plate from afterthoughtsauto.com for the BG RamAir kit and find a way to make it fit in your intake that would be best.

And I know I posted this somewhere else and forgot to check what anyone said about it, but I heard that the SLP CAI is a BAD idea! Worse than debaffling your hood. Ive heard of people hitting puddles and that dam is a straight shot for a lot of water to go straight intake your intake. Those things worry me more than driving my car with the BG ramair and no rain plate in!

I run a FTRA style ram air with a debaffled WS6 hood. Car has been driven in Rain, Sleet & Snow without issues.

If you slow down for standing water, you shouldn't have any issues.

For the back baffle tho, DONT CUT IT OUT!!! Get a small drill bit, drill out the rivets and take it out! It looks so much cleaner and nicer! And for the front Ive seen people slightly cut some off the bottom with a dremel so more air can get through, but still blocks rain.

And the BGRA rain plate has a hole in it that is big enough to deliver enough air for your car to idle on. But still small enough that not a lot of water will get through if any.

Your car breathes from the bottom. Blocking off the ram air openings would do nothing to prevent the engine from running. Ever looked at the bottom of your air box?

Yeah, I was planning on sealing it to the openings in the hood though, so it wouldn't get any air from anywhere else.

Whats the point of the Volant and the BGRA? Does the BGRA even seal right to the Volant intake, at least at the top?
