gut cats myself?

i would stick a big screwdriver down in there and poke all of it out. i never knew you could carry it somewhere and have it done, it just doesn't make sense to me.
ive never done it before but, my dads buddy, who is a mechanic, told me i could just unbolt it and poke all the junk out with a big screw driver, like silverB said. make sure you get all that junk out though. my buddy has a bad cat, theres somethin rattling inside of it and it sounds like junk. if you have a compressor you could shoot it with air when youre done to get everything out. 
i dunno about taking it in to have it done, its uber illegal. you could always get an off-road Y and switch between the two if you gotta get it smogged or somethin.

got a guy in houston who will do it 60 bucks a cat and instill new o2 sensors.. i just figured if i could do it myself, it would save me the money.. I dontw ant to have to weld anything, being i dont know how ...

There is nothing needed to weld. There are three bolts at the manifold and two at the y pipe and the cat comes off of the car. The only way you will be able to break them out is from the manifold side as it is close to the cat. The y-pipe side is a longer run to the cat.
Yep, no welding needed. I did it and just unbolted the whole Y pipe and beat all the crap out of the cats with a long bar and hammer. Just do it yourself. After you get the y off and give the cats a poke, youll see its a peice of cake!

The ceramic is tougher than you'd think. You need to start
a fracture point. A long (12") 3/16 drill bit will dig into it
well enough, follow that up with some crowbar ramming,
**** style and it will break up. If you don't start it off with
the pilot hole, the busting can take a lot of work.
Or so I've heard. Emissions tampering is illegal.
Gutted cats are not ideal for exhaust flow. If you were of
a mind to do better, a set of the Mufflex tubes with a cat
shell welded around them would flow and sound better.

I hope you have better luck then I did with the bolts between the manifold and cat. When removing my stock exhaust, I broke every single one of those *******.

Is it worth it to gut the cats? A few HP on a stock f-bod, right? And then the exhaust stinks and inspection will be a hassle. Why bother? Even with a power adder I say keep the cats. Just my opinion.
