battery just died, what new one should I buy?
well my car battery just died the combo of the recent cold weather in NY and not having driven it for a while killed the stock ac delco. what brand should i get as a replacement. i was thinking of a die hard from sears. they have them warranteed for 36 months free replacement and are about $75. but i figured if anyone out there knows of a better and/or cheaper brand to get lemme know.

Most batteries nowadays have free replacement for 3 yrs/pro-rated after that. I tried a sears diehard gold, only lasted 2 years, but found out later LS1's need a 690 CCA battery, one they sold me was only a 550 "warm climate battery" probably cause of my location. Gave me a full refund towards an optima red top (720 CCA) though.

you have lots of choices. there is ac delco, sears diehard, optima. i would stay away from advance, pep boys, autozone. anything cheap is cheap, 99% of the time.

yeah, the only problem with the optima is they are more than double the cost of the diehard. the cheapest i saw was $150.

i personally have had the same optima red top for the past 5 years, in 3 different vehicles. i LOVE them, NO corroding of terminals, no acid leaking and rusting your car (just go look at the subframe under the battery tray on your f-body). to me thats worth every penny!
