ran one on my car for some testing...
It sounded very sweet! Very deepend note, but much quieter than the dynomax bullet that it replaced.
If I ever put a muffler on mine thats what I will be getting.

I have used the same borla XR-1 3" in 3" out on my car with the twin turbos and now with the stock manifolds and no cats and it keeps that car quiet and sounds great with no rasp!

I have true duals, 3", with Dynomax bullets, and it's too damn loud with my 422ci.
I have been looking into a set of Borla XR1 mufflers, these ones:
http://www.borla.com/xr1.sportsman.oval.mufflers/
I know a local guy selling two used ones off a race car, center inlet/outlet 3". The mufflers have a lot less height than traditional muffler.
Is that what you tried PaiN?

I'm running the 3" in/out 5" round XR1 in place of the "resonator" on a Loudmouth. I think it has a pretty good tone to it. For those with duals a pair of the oval XR1s would probably clearance better and have a good sound.

another alternative to the XR-1 is still in the dynomax crowd except it is the welded ROUND muffler and not the bullet
that muffler actually MUFFLES....lol compared to the bullet and its only $60 compared to the stainless borla which is about double

Ragtop, the XR1's that I am getting look like regular mufflers... Just smaller and different internal design. I don't think you would want to put them in a ORP.

The LS1 Motorsports turbo car ran an XR1 for a while. At "CyberBrawl" it sounded awesome during Tech. Car has changed a bit since then, don't know what it's currently running. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Ok big question for you all, I have the new Grot 1 7/8 headers with ORP, with a Loudmouth Exhaust, I was thinking of putting the XR-1 in place of the resonator, do you still think this setup would be too loud?? I'm majorly torn between doing that and just swapping out the whole system for a Hooker. Thanks all.

Thanks for the reply Ragtop, I'm actually going to weld a Sportmans XR-1 muffler in the rear of the exhaust and swap out the resonator with a straight through pipe. I think this setup will be tolerable.
