My ears are bleeding...new exhaust installed
Just got my car back together after doing a complete exhaust.
JetHot longtubes
JetHot Y pipe (off road)
Borla adjustable catback
DAMN!!! this thing is loud for a stocker...
I may have to try another catback because I have the solid plate installed so that all exhaust goes through the muffler, and it's still pretty damn loud...With any of the open plates installed, the car was TOO loud for me, and I usually like loud cars.
Any suggestions on how to quiet it down a bit without losing to much flow?

yep, add some high-flow cats and you'll tame it down. My friend who has the '97 Z28 in my signature pic put pacesetters on with an ORY and GMMG, and it was killer loud. He put some high-flow cats on and that did the trick. Sounds perfect.

"Too Loud" to me is when the car sounds like it's going a lot faster than it actually is, lol...It actually sounds good (IMHO) with the closed plate in and all exhaust running through muffler...just a bit raspy.
The exhaust system's previous owner had this same setup on his car, which was a cam/head/intake car, and what he did was run through the muffler as a daily thing, and used an electric cutout for the "special occasions". I guess it's either that, or contact JetHot about the cats that fit this Y pipe of theirs. I assume the electric cutout is the cheaper alternative, while still having that "drag ready" exhaust, huh?
BTW, thanks for the replies so far.

Psh, you can't say they bleed until you have been in my car. I idle louder than a mac truck(no joke). I can't even explain, all I can say is...**** falls off my car haha. Open headers=horrible idea. I love loud cars, but...when you set off your house alarm when you start your car, you have issues.

Too Loud? Are you F$%cking Sh#tting me. Isn't that why we install longtubes, ORY, and exhaust for more power and sound. I have Longtubes ORY and WIDE OPEN Borla. Its loud as hell but I love it. Sure its a little raspy from 2200 to 2800 but at wide open throttle, its music to my ears. Ive grown to like the raspyness cause its so nasty sounding. I can't wait to get the heads and MS3 on a 112lsa in it. Maybe somekind of duals or a Mufflex system. Anyway just busting your ***** with my .02
