Man it sucks that it happened. I built a 406 that I installed the 2nd ring upside down on all the pistons. I read the instructions wrong. I had to take it back apart. That was three years ago. Hopefully it will be running this winter.

Did you ever find out what caused the valves to bend? By that pic the edge of the valve didn't hit the piston it was the whole damn valve.

I personally don't think you can bend a valve just turning it over by hand. Especially with a hydraulic cam. I could be wrong though. Good luck.

Im happy to almost have it back. The last time I drove it was when I put in my longtubes and borla, it was loud back then with an open plate, now tis gonna be REALLY loud

From those pics it looks like you used an air grinder and scotch wheel to clean the deck surface on your block? If so on aluminum that can wreak havoc on it ( as in high and low spots ) and cause premature head gasket issues. If you did clean it that way I would use fel pro graphite head gaskets and I also highly recommend you spray the block side of your head gaskets with a few coats of this stuff right before you bolt them up.

You absolutely need to follow torque sequences as well or your in for bigger problems. Also be very very sure you have cleaned out all the coolant from the head bolt holes or you can cause hydraulic locking and crack your block. Aluminum blocks are not nearly as forgiving as iron. Finally for what its worth I'd also sell your roll master double and get a single LS2 chain. Cheap, tough, and easy to install properly. Good luck

x2. Where did this idea come from? Using ARP studs just means different torque sequence and intervals, not bypassing anything.

hmm I think I must have said that completely wrong.

Lemme try and think of a better way of saying this.

Instead of the stock bolts like torque all botls to 22ft lbs, then torque bolt #8 and 10 to 50 ft lbs, then torque the other to say 66ft bls then go voer thema gain and turn it 50* yak yak yak. You just go in order of what bolt tightens first and you toqrue it down right then, no going back over the same bolt a dozen times.

you still have to torque ARP in stages just like the stockers, you just don't have to torque to yield...

Sorry, wont happen, not when im capable of doing this myself. I thought the ARP's you just torqued down in order and you jsut didnt have to go back down over them. Its ok though, I would have read the directions either way and saw what needed to be done.

AND.... whats 10 more minutes in the whole scheme of things to have to re-torque or even have to torque to yield bolts? if your really that worried about shaving that much time off of the build you've got things totally backwards. + ARP's don't come with instructions, just a table on the box that says suggested torque rating for each bolt size....

the only reason you should be going to arp's anyways is for the ability to re-use them, or for the added cylinder pressures they can handle with power adders, but your mechanical apptitude + power adders would start a whole new 15 page blockbuster thread

Man I wouldn't torque them down to the max on the first and only pass. Try it on your rims and see what happens. Same concept applies here.

Anywho, see I've already got the ls1howto guide that has the sequence n all that ****. Still shouldnt be to complicated, even if I do gotta do the sequence.
