because you lose the ability to use a lift when you go under the axle, since the rear end drops when you put the car on a lift. I think under the axle is ghetto no matter how clean it looks, there are no real advantages. BMR offers a Upper Panhard Rod Relocation Kit, which allows you to run 3" True Duals over the axle easily with no clearance issues.

With the true duals I am still able to use a two post lift without the axle hitting the exhaust. I love the way mine sounds and plus a T/A doesn't look right w/out tips.

as far as the pipes "bottoming out" onto the rearend housing,it does not happen!
it works on both kinds of lifts,2 or 4 post.
corvettes have been this way for as a long time!
my ex.system has flanges built in so if i need to pull the rearend or do a fuel pump it is only 4 extra nuts to remove and my system comes down from the rear of the X-pipe back.
doing the over the axle 2.5 or 3" duals will not come out near as easy as mine
but reality time, how many times do you really need to access these items its not like an oil change or getting gas.
this mod is similar to all other mods, some like it... some dont..
like any other mod you do to your carjust make it as clean as possible!
everywhere i go someone comments about the sound then they actually get down to see the system and become even more impressed.

So tell me, which one is more "ghetto"
Clean look from behind, under the axle
or
A nice big shiny, diaper sticking out of the back with some tips?

at all the "experts" in here. I have mine under the axle and haven't scraped/bottomed them out yet. I can jack my car up and let the axle hang without any problems, and if I need to drop them for whatever reason (the only time I had to do this was to change my rear springs/shocks and it took a whiping 6 bolts to drop them) the exhaust pipes are already cool by the time I jack the car up and get my tools. I guess you do exhaust work when your engine is running?

It's hardly ghetto. I've never scraped at all. I have better clearance than I did with factory exhaust. Like I said, it takes a maximum of five minutes to drop them if I need to lift the car. Bottom line is, I didn't want to spend the extra $200 the shop wanted to run them over the axle. I also didn't want the headache of all the clanking and banging due to clearance issues. Granted a lot of cars don't have those problems, but I've seen enough that I didn't want to take any chances. I like them just fine....it's all personal preference. My duals are just as effective, look just as clean, and cost substantially less. Based on that, Why Not??

I have dumps now and I am trying to get someone to finish them off out the back under the axle. It's not looking too promising in this neck of the woods. I had plans to have flanges on them. That way all you have to do is jack it up by the axle and unbolt them to throw it on a lift. That is truly the only downside to running them under the axle.
I'll glady spend ten minutes to unbolt them rather than spending the extra 600 bucks for the over the axle setup. Plus, its only 2.5" over the axle, not 3". On a side note, how the hell do you guys with dumps drive on the street with a cam and a stall. My car is crazy loud....

Damn! That is my car and I can't believe all the crap people are talking about it. I have never had anything but compliments on my exhaust. People are bitching about all this crap that is untrue. I never bottom out. I have flanges at the x-pipe so I can take it down easily if I have to. You can jack the car up by the diff. and put it on jack stands also without taking the exhaust down. My brother has true duals over the axle and spent a lot more money only to have it rattle and bang on everything. No problems here. I think it looks mean. Thanks to all the people that had nice things to say about my car and screw all of you that say my car is ghetto.
