Default Help....Overheating after Heads and Cam.

I tried search, but no answer.

Finished H/C

Car is over heating and the gauge goes slowly to the Redline. Fans kick in and the 2 lines by the Rad cap are not mixed up.

When the car is running its asking for more and more Dexcool. It sucked up one and a half jugs. The Resauvour is full, but not letting the dexcool to flow to the rad. I checked the oil and its only oil.

Any ideas? the car is not leaking anywhere.

You have to let it run (idle) untill all the air is out of the system. Just keep the radiator cap off so you can keep an eye on it. Nothing to be alarmed about.

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly, but you're filling from the reservoir?

Why not from the radiator itself?

Problem fix. I guess it was air in the system

no iam filling it from the radiator. I did add some into the reservore.

Now there is a small leak coming from the front cross over pipe. Its actually on both sides. Is that common?

A leak is not common. I put just a little bit of silicone on the small rubber seals on the pipes.

sounds like you have a air pocket on your system. let your car idle til you see it start to overheat. let it cool and then top off the radiator again. keep doing until it does not overheat anymore.

ohh don't remind me on Remembering things. This is my Friends 98 TA and we were technically done last week, but there was no OIL pressure. Do you know why? Because one of us FORGOT to put a O-Ring on the Pick-up Tube. DOH!!!

Like they said, you had air in the system. Glad you got that issue resolved. As for the leak, no, that's not normal. Pull the crossover pipe off and check the conditions of the o rings. Clean and or replace and re-install. Good luck!

I wouldnt, it could end up where you don't want it, and stop things up. As far as the o rings, no, I don't know the pn. If you have them, but their just in bad shape, you could use them to match up a new pair. Otherwise, prolly gonna have to go to the dealer. The only problem with that, is most likely you'll have to purchase the entire crossover assembly. Good luck.

Well the leak is very very very Minor. What he is going to do is buy a ls6 intake and obviously the Cross-over pipes are diferent. Thats when we will swap it. We just have to get the car tuned with in couple of weeks. after that we'll swap it.
