Hard to say it is not cheap I guess if you got the $ I would say spend the money on some performance upgrades first.

I would at least throw a set of headers on there before you get her tuned.

Now if all you want is a tune then by all means spend the $$ and get er dun !!

A tune on a stock car will basically optimize all the settings from the factory. Some factory tunes are good, (you won't see much) some factory tunes are bad (you'll see a bigger improvement) I think that is the scenario that occurs when people talk about being bone stock and making more power then the next guy. So it might be worth it to make sure you aren't running pig rich on you A/F ratio, and have them throw some timing at the motor and see how she responds. I hope this helps a bit.

Good luck, and be sure to post your baseline numbers and tuned numbers. Should be interesting to see what a bone stock motor does just by tuning it with no other mods. I bet you see 20 rwhp. Just guessing though.

What if you have a shitty factory tune ?? Not completely pointless. It would be better if you do some boltons before you spend money on tuning though.

Do headers, ud pully, and a CAI, then tune that sucker.

It really depends on the cost of it. Some things like rev limiter, shift points, etc. can make your car a little quicker but I would say its not worth it if your talking about spending a couple hundred bucks.

Its not completely pointless BUT unless you have unlimited $$$ get some mods, def when you put headers on it, its going to need to be tuned.

I suspected my factory tune was way off when I only picked up .1 and 1 mph from a lid, ported tb, and a cutout.

I was right...I picked up 27hp/24tq with a tune. No headers.

So depending on how off your stock tune is, it could absolutely be worth it. Also, most tuners won't charge you full price again when you need a retune.
