Default Oil pressure problem

Can anything else besides the O-ring cause low oil pressure? How can I tell if I'm pumping foam?

There's no tappet noises or lack of oil under the valve covers. Is it possible pressure is good, but pressure sensor or grounding is wrong?

This is a C5 with a double-roller and stock pulley. My crank pulley seems to be exactly inline with the other pulleys. I've heard C5s with double-rollers need a machined pulley. Could this affect oil pressure?

My mental checklist:
- Oil pump - New LS1 pump, has spacers but sprayed with sealer, double O-rings, tightened pickup tube before bolting pump body on block
- Crank - Tight bearings .0020 clearance
- Eagle rods - Flat sides together on crank
- Cam - New bearings

Did you install the rear oil galley plug behind the rear cover during assembly?

I read in the other thread that your using your old and a new o-ring. if this is true dont use the old one. The old one is too worn out to be put back in even if your going double. Thats what I think your problem is. Something similar happend to me. Try it, i may be wrong though.

Thanks, that's hard to believe though. I put both rings on, and with the tube inserted into the pump, there was about 1/16" gap before bolting the tube tight. I'm sure that this squeezed the O-rings tight and made a tighter seal than usual...

Maybe it's too tight on the o-rings and split them.

Doh!

I tilted my old block forward, and something was sticking out of a hole in the back. Must be that plug thing.

This is what a new plug looks like installed (unstained white plastic):

That would be it! I would replace it with a new one from GM. The part # is 12558340.

Thanks Jason!

That was however, stupid of me to overlook that part. I gotta pull the motor to put that little part in, I can't imagine a more buried place to put it.

...not sure about a C5 but in a f-body I think you just pull the tranny; right? ...a lot easier than pulling the motor...

I wish. C5s have torque tube between the transaxle and engine.

Last night I was lying underneath with a drop light, staring at the bottom and wondering how far I have to pull the motor just enough to put the one little plug in.
