Trex with 3.73s and an SS3600 - Acceptable?
Thunder Racing recommends a 4000 converter and 4.30 or lower gears. Sure you can run it with 3.73's and a 3600, but it won't perform to it's fullest potential. I would at least run 4.10's to get it moving and up in the powerband faster. What do you consider to be over revving? Because you are gonna have to shift at 6800+ for that cam to perform.

i consider overrevving to be when your crossing the traps passed the powerband to the point where the car is actually going slower than it could be. based on my calculations the cam only guys are either revving to the moon or running a 28" tire with the tall gears most of them have. or a combination of the two
i had 3.73's and and a 4k stall, 3rd pulled like a raped ape (1st and 2nd sucked due to street tires
)... never got a chance to run it at the track tho...

i wish i would have went with more stall.. something like a 4400-4600..
i dont suggest this setup to someone that runs the 1/4 though... top speed is about 135ish.. i only run 1/8, so its no biggie to me.. but in the 1/4 on spray you would be at your top speed..
i would HIGHLY recommend more converter for that cam..
there honestly is no reason to go with that cam if you want those gears and that stall size.. you wont be using all the cam.. also keep in mind those cams LOVE to breath up top.. reason most of them are matched with ported 90/90s and rev high..
is there any reason you can choose a smaller cam? something like a ms3 would match almost perfectly..

There are folks here that claim to run even "bigger" cams with heads and 3.42's with a 6 speed and they have NO driveability issues....... if that's really true, would would be fine with stock gears if your tuner knows what he's doing. (J/K!)

hmmm, i too have considered moving up to 373's.. but i still drive my car on the hwy from time to time, therefore, i am sticking with my 323's for now.
I too am running a decent sized cam (G5X3) and a 3600 stall.. 1st,2nd i can barely keep in on the road if i hit it hard from a stop or @ 30mph... Like your's, mid range, up top are icing on the cake.. I hope to get a little more from my FAST 90/90 that i am installing this weekend..
It has been said b4... match the gears,stall,cam together.. so they are working together 4 ya.

410's in an A4 is overkill if you plan on driving it on the hwy.. IMO!! but, it's your car! Do what YOU like...
