Tsp 233/239 cam
Hey guys.
Within the next month I intend on buying pacesetter LT's, a TSP true dual kit, and a TSP 233/239 cam package. When I get the cam, what would be the best way to tune it? And how much will that cost?
Also, what kind of numbers will I be looking at after the exhaust and cam?
The exhaust will be dumped before the axles. Thanks for all the help guys.

Is this cam still very streetable? That is pretty big for an lsx isnt it?
I will be driving this car as a daily when summer comes around. Should I go with this or the 224/224 XE cam? Or possibly even the 220/220?
Also, do i need to spring the extra $110 for the PRC springs or will the 918 be good enough?

The 233/239 is not bad with a decent tune. Obviously, it takes a little more effort around town as it is designed to make more power higher in the RPM range. I get around 12mpg in town to 26ish on the Interstate. Aside from my work vehicle, the GTO is the only car I drive. I would not hesitate to DD it.
As far as springs, I would suggest dual springs with a larger cam. That is just my personal preference and is easily debatable.
As far as which cam? Read the thousands of threads. My thoughts? Most people see a large cam listed for sale and want it. Bigger = Better in many people's minds. I think you would be happier with the 224 cam. However, I do not know you and do not know what you plan for your car.

I have that exact cam and I love it. Yes the car pulls very hard in the higher rpms but the only problem is that you need to up your rev limiter. This was a little scary for me but I run my stock bottom end up to 7200 and can pull cars with much more power. I also have ported and polished 243 heads, and LTs. About a month ago under normal driving conditions the motor started making a bad bad sound. Long story short the lifter failed and ruined the cam. At this point I am going to go with the smaller 224, and better lifters, just to try something different. I ran this car extremely hard racing at least one night a week for a year and only had the lifter go bad.

I wouldnt go down to the low 220s unless you have a auto and dont want a high stall. Stick it out in the low 230s or high 220s for a good DD cam. Then again if you can find the right tuner you can make a DD out of a high 230 cam.

Agreed, and probably faster. you gained nothing by shifting that car at 7,200 with that cam. Peak was probably 6,400... 6,600-6,800 MAX shift or your just killing yourself.
You'd need a 236+ intake lobe to justify pushing your shift point out that much... IMO

Find a quy that that will tune it right my tuner did me right. I let him hold my car he drove it around did alot data logging then tuned more data logging and then tune got everything down right, then we went to the dyno and did wide open pulls etc to dial in the last of it. It takes time to tune a car right espically with a bigger cam some people just hope on a dyno for a hour or 2 and think they tune a car right but it takes alot more than that.

Im thinking of going smaller now. How bout running the 228r? For now, I will not have a stall. But soon I will be buying a yenkss3600. Im also purchasing an ls6 intake from a forum member and going to P/P my TB

Jeez...at least two guys in this thread had lifters go bad. See...I just ordered my cam, but I'm also going the safe route, getting PRC Double Spring kit, chromeoly pushrods, harland sharp rockers and most importantly...LS7 lifters. lol Why do people just throw cams in cars and wait for something to break...go the safe route buddy and get supporting valvetrain upgrades when you do the cam...no matter what size. And while your at it...probably should get an LS6 oil pump and an LS2 timing chain. Just trying to help.

id go double springs, hardened pushrods, no rockers..
you have to have a stall before you get that size cam. only cam sizes you dont need without a stall is like a 218 or something..
btw, you will pick up more e/t getting a stall than getting a cam.. if you get a good stall... dont go cheap on the stall... Vig, Yank, Circle D is where its at.. dont get a TCI fuddle etc..

I have a streetsweeper HT and my peak power is at 6.9K....a bigger cam with a higher LSA I could easily believe making more power at 7.2K

That was an ls7 lifter that went bad I would recomend something better than ls7

Well...I'm not going to be revving passed 6,500k so I'll be fine with those lifters. They are from an engine that has a limiter of 7k, which is made to rev that high, so I'll be fine with Ls7 lifters.
Either way, get hardened pushrods, Ls2 timing chain set and an Ls6 oil pump, What lemons said...it's a must and besides, you're already down there anyways when doing the cam swap might as well...

yeah, I have lately been thinking of just getting a stall.
Just ordered an LS6 intake today. So I'll have the full dual exhuast, ls6 intake, lid, and yank ss3600 stall. I figure I should be running 12's with that setup, yah?
