would you also recommend doing a new cam and crank sprocket or just the chain?

Another option is the Cloyes IRL chain. There is a thread in the internal Gen IV section on these chains with photo's.

Link

Also, if you go with the Katech make sure it is the real deal. There are some less expensive knock-offs around now. Price will tell you quickly.

The LS2 chain is fine. Everybody has been freaking out lately because people have been breaking them on the Vettes, which has not been the chains faults. It's due to the harmonics (or lack thereof) of some of the pulleys being used.

I use LS2 chains on almost all of my builds and haven't had any problems in almost 2 yrs.

What pulleys are you using on these builds?

I went with an LS2 and have had no issues but that is just me. I don't doubt that Katech makes a better product, if nothing else it fits tighter.

On the F-bodies, either the ASP or Powerbond is fine. On the Vettes I've used the ATI unit or the stock one. I don't recommend the ASP on the Vettes anymore.

I've never had a problem on an F-body PERIOD with any of the chains or pulleys. It seems to be a Corvette only design thats breaking them lately due to harmonics issues.

I've used SLP, Powerbond, ASP, ATI, etc etc etc on F-bodies and neither has given me a "problem". However my pulley of choice on F-bodies is the ASP, because it is the lightest of the choices.
