Default making lifter tool with 5/16 rod?

Besides making tips on them, do i need to make a flat side on them like the 100 dollar ones?

Might not hurt. Using 5/16" wood dowels, my DR side slid right in as-is,but the PASS side had to be tapped in with a hammer. Maybe sanding a full length flat would be the ticket...

Thumbs up

Yup...I ground a flat the full length one of the metal rods I made a few years ago. Used them again tonight and they worked like a charm. Not sure why the passenger side is different?

Any reason 5/16" brake line tubing wouldn't work too? Then you could just tap out a flat side if needed.

Just buy some 5/16" wood dowels at HD, lightly sand them 100% smooth, coat in oil and enjoy I've used mine 3x now and they work great.

Becareful with the wooden dowels... I used mine several of time but I'd haveto say after the about 10th time the unfortunate happen.... One of them broke in the driveside hole. I had to drive a screw into the dowel itself but at the same time being careful that I didn't the lifter and wala it came out. Was really damn scray though. LOL it funny now but wasn't then.
