Default mechanical oil gauge

Just curious, is this bolt, above the oil filter an ok place to put in a mech oil gauge in my jeep. The motor is a 2003 5.3 out of a Tahoe, which I believe makes it a lsx.

No, its a Main Cap bolt!!! you wont get anything there, run a y fitting where the stock sender is, if it is a 1 wire sender take it out and run the mechanical there.

did that mess anything up if I broke it loose. I was talking about the bolt that the socket is on in one pic and then not on in the next. The stock sender is behind the intake, correct?

You will be ok, Torque it down and dont worry about it. Yes the oil sender is behind the intake.
