Default Got my Z06 up and running....swapped VRX5 for PatG 235 243 LSL *Video*

Well i was at the track and snapped my transmission output shaft on my 3rd pass....this sux because i had the drivetrain out 600 miles before that doing the rear end and clutch...so out it came again
come to find out a chunk of the shaft lodged in my new ring gear and cracked a tooth...I had a cam on order so while the car was down for replacement of my trans and diff I went ahead and did the cam swap as well
It was the stock 18k miles Z06 trans...(rpm said it was perfect inside)
but went ahead with a Level 5 Rebuild from RPM with a 30 spline mainshaft upgrade. And since my old gear crapped the bed from my trans shaft breakage it was a perfect time for the 30 spline upgrade because the pinion gear has to be machined to accept the 30 spline transmission shaft
Old cam 236 238 601 605 113+2 XER Comp Cam...AKA VRX5
New Cam 235 243 620 623 111+3 LSL Comp Cam...PatG spec

Got the new Trans and Diff in Friday evening started working on it 11am on Saturday till about 630 pm...started again sunday about 130 pm started it up at about 630 last night...now thats busting *** for you...especially working on my back in a 1 car garage with just basic hand tools, jacks, and jackstands

Gotta change the oil, dial in the tune some, and hit the dyno in a couple weeks...shooting for 480rwhp
made 469 last time at the dyno...changes since then
-swapped out my LG 1 3/4 headers for ARH 1 7/8
-stock clutch to a spec twin disk
-VRX5 to this new cam
-342 stock Z06 Diff to the RPM 390 diff
-Stock Z06 trans, to a level 5 RPM trans with a C6Z 30 spline mainshaft and micropolished gears
-also using TR6s now...seems to pull cleaner than it did with TR55's

Video of the 2nd pass at the strip(11.10 at 127.4 1.68 60ft)...broke on my 3rd
http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/g...=gaycar009.flv

heres some pics of the damage and new parts and later I'll post pics of the carnage that was left inside my diff and RPM was nice enough to send em back to me for garage decorations to hang on the wall as a reminder not to break again

I got that exact same cam going into my car hopefully in less than a month, waiting on my short block to be rebuilt. Mines a 111+4. Your car sounds really good, let us all know what it dynos out at. Are you tuning it yourself or having someone else do it? My mods on mine will be -2cc diamond pistons with eagle rods, PRC LS6 heads milled to 61cc, ported 90/90fast, pacesetters, cutout, hooker catback, 9inch 3.89 gears through an M6. It will be real interesting how much you'll gain. Also couple more questions: did yours degree out alright and do you recommend doing that and what size pushrod's did you use?

I have the exact same cam in my 408. Drives like stock. I'm being dyno tuned on the 30th. I'm not too concerned with the numbers. I'm very happy with the way the car drives and it has power all over the place.

To do a cam in these cars the heads need to come off? Or should they?

Technically all that needs to come off the motor is the waterpump and timing cover.
