Default 244/242 112 LSA .600 on stock engine?

I have a 244/242 112 LSA .600 lift on my stock ls1, the engine has headers and a fast 90/90...

I currently have a sts turbo on it and am thinkin about getting rid of it as its not making **** for power on this cam, and i may go back to n/a

HOWEVER, my question is -

If I go back to N/A will this cam be a good cam for a stock engine? Or will it just not work good without huge aftermarket heads? I mean I could be mistaken but it almost felt like with the stock cam the car was faster...

Are you saying that you are running a 240 cam with a STS or about swapping from the STS to that cam. If you are using that cam on the stock motor with a STS, that would explain poor performance. You should swap to something like a 228 or so with an STS and that thing will perform its *** off.

its not too big for n/a IMO but its definitely not the right cam for boost, something with less duration and a higher LSA would be more friendly with the turbo. it would take a lot of extra parts to get everything out of that cam on stock cubes, it would prob be better to swap in a turbo cam and see what happens from there

you need heads to take advantage of that duration. stockers just can't get enough air there fast enough. the combo is all wrong. if you don't want to invest in a head/cam combo...then yeah, find another grind.

Your cam is completely missmatched. It is bleeding most of the boost you are putting in.
For your size motor and psi you can run, look at 224/224 .581/.581 113 LSA, -2* overlap.

Yep, bad combo.

I'll trade you a TR224 for that STS. It'll be faster NA with the 224 than what you are doin' now.

Good deal for all!!! lol

Seriously, though. Trade me.................

The Z06 cam is not the best for turbo either.
What do you realy base your choices on? Why not make the right choice instead of going from 1 extreme to another.
Obviously you do not understand what to run or which to choose. Why not then ask for experience in the matter.

I do think it's the best choice to swap the cam and keep the turbo setup. I don't agree with going all the way down to the LS6 cam though. Spend the money on a cam intended for boost and it will easily exceed your expectations and make the rest of your investment finally seem worthwhile.
