Help me Pick my cam
Im going to be buying a cam soon and I need some help picking it out Im looking at the TR224 Tsp 224r and Tsp 228r with 112lsa.Emissions do not matter I live in mich and theres no testing My needs are
#1 My car is daily driven and I would like a very street friendly cam with a decent idle while and a good amount of lope
#2 Reliable I dont want to be changing valve springs every 15k miles
#3 Last I would like to get the most power out of it I can given my other needs with a strong mid range with a peak power no higher then 6500
Car is an 2001 Camaro with M6 and 3.73 gears in the back 60k miles im planing on keeping the stock heads
Mods are K&N Fipk, Stock Ported TB, jet-hot longtubes, jet-hot ORY, flowmaster catback with cutouts

The cam I have is very streetable and has a lot of torque. Alot in the entire rpm range. Check it out.

Have you considered the GMPP ASA Cam? It lopes really hard for a smaller cam, also alot of the members on here who use the cam have very positive things to say about it.

The 228 will be a little rougher prolly just because it is slightly larger but it'll give you more lope like you want

I was reading gm high tech performance and they tested the stock rocker arms and there testing showed the stock rocker arms where really only good for a little past 550 lift without excessive wear to the valve guides and valve tips Can I go all the way up to 588 without this problem?

Just contact patrick G and have him give you the specs for a custom cam he only charges 25$ and gave my specs within a couple days. Just fill out the sheets, tell him exactly what you are looking for as far as driveability and give as much info about your car, the more info the better, He is a great to work with, worse case if you dont like his specs you're only out 25$ and can always go with another cam. However i think you wil be very happy with Patrick G and feel more comfortbale after wards knowing you got the cam for you and not a general cam that will work well.

TR224 will give you everything you're looking for. It's a very proven cam and won't wipe out your valvesprings as quickly as some of the other cams you mentioned.

As far as your gains i can tell you my old setup was fairly close to yours i had qtp 1 3/4 with qtp y pipe and cats, 3" Borla exhaust no cut outs, K@n FIPK, stock ls6 intake with ported stock tb, SLP underdrive pulley, HP Tuned not myself, 17x9.5 wheels, 4.10 gears, stock rear and tranny with spec stage 3 clutch and steel flywheel.
My cam was comp cams part #54-426-11 222/224 .566/.568 112 LSA using comp cams pro magnum 1.75 rockers and 918 springs.
My results were 380 rwhp/ 351 rwtq using a mustang dyno.

I completely disagree with this statement. The 224R & 228R camshaft are far from super-aggressive camshafts that wipe out valvesprings. Joseph currently has a set of 60k mile Comp 918s he pulled used out of his brothers car that still has decent pressure & STILL works with these lobes.
I have no doubt all three of these camshafts will have a great life when combined with any of PRC's spring kits, or the Comp 918 spring kits.
If you'd like we can provide you with engine dyno data from both the 224R & 228R camshafts. We're dyno testing a bunch of camshafts starting next week & we'll have data all the way down to 2k rpm for you guys to checkout!!
