Trying to decide on a DD cam
I need a good healthy cam with great power under the curve for my bolt on 2001 camaro. I would like to stay in the 228-236 duration... The car is a t-56 car with a 3.23 gear, the rear cam out of an auto and I do no plan on putting a gear in. I don't want a cam that makes a ton of peak power, I have been down that road in the past and want to avoid that. There seem to be a ton of cams out at the moment with all the new lobes and such that perform well with stock cubes and head. Does anyone have a suggestions as to what I should be looking for?
I was thinking about one of the EPS or HKE grinds... but I am looking for opinions and feedback. Let me know!

Hot cam is a little too small for my liking... I do want to make good power. I have looked at the 228R and I was impressed, but I think there may be a few cams out there in the 230 range that would make some nice torque down low and make driving a blast. Then again, I kinda want to steer away from "typical" cams that most people use. My best bet would probably be a custom spec from one of the sponsors...
More info would be greatly apppreciated! Dyno sheets and feedback would be great.

I run the 228R, great cam, great under the curve power! Streetability is awesome, has good torque down low but still pull hard from 3k on up. I run 3.73 gears and it works out really well for DD. If you want torque go with a custom grind similar to the torquer v2.

+1, great cam. My car put down 400hp, 375tq through a Yank 3600 stall. Car has run a best of 11.66 @ 116 full weight with 3.23 gears, and on 17in M/T drs. Driveability is great and pulls hard to 6600.

I am a fan of the 228r as well. If you have some cash to spend however; I would look into Tony Mamo's "Blue Pill" package. AFR 205 heads milled to your specs with all the fixins and a 224/228 cam. Consistently putting down 450whp and that would be a street beast and drive like stock.

Thanks for the input guys! Keep it coming... track numbers, hp numbers and dyno sheets will really help me make my decision. Like I said, I want a nice fat torque curve with a wide powerband. If I go with a shelf cam then it will probably be the 228R or the Torquer v3

You cant go wrong with the TR 224 camshaft. Great for daily driven cars. If you want a step bigger the 230/224 cam wouldn't be a bad choice. Here is a link to the cams. Both of those have a link to a dyno graph.

The reverse split cam that TR just suggested would be pretty bad *** too. Its a cam that does really well without the use of aftermarket heads. I've seen some pretty serious numbers out of those cams.

what about "streetsweeper" or "tigershark" cam from ed curtis? usually make good under the curve power for a street car.
