katech rod bolts: conflicting torque specs
The instructions that came with the bolts say to burnish @ 30 ft/lbs and finally torque @ 45ft/lbs but their web site says the final setting should be 50. I did a search here and Ive only found posts that say 50 ft/lbs too. I bought the bolts from Katech's website and I called them up but their tech guy left already. Any ideas?????

I used this write up to get to the rod bolts with the engine still in the car:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-write-up.html
Its a great guide but right now the crank is exposed just collecting garage dust until I can get some confirmed torque numbers...

UPDATE: So I got a voicemail from Katech this morning saying that burnishing the rod bolt is done @ 35ft/lbs and the final pass is @ 45. Engineering said that the bolts have been revised hence the new torque specs so Ive gotta either drop another $200 on new Katech's or use the ARP's ive got sitting in their box but Im worried about using those because their instructions say to resize the rod. Ive read on here that that's uneccessay but Im still hesitant to use em.
Moral of the story is follow the directions included with the bolts.

i've installed 2 sets of Katech bolts with the first being bought & installed in 06. i remembered the directions saying final torque was 50 ft/lbs. when i did another set this spring the final torque was 45 ft/lbs. i just followed the directions & havent had any issues yet. i've got about 3000 miles on the motor since i did the rod bolts & spin it 6800 quite often
