1999 5.3 vortec to 2007 5.3...Help
I've hit 200,000 on my 1999 silverado 5.3, it' still running strong, but recently I came accross a 2007 silverado 5.3 engine (no harness or intake) with 17,000 miles for $500. Is this a good deal, what should i look for, is it easy to make the swap?
Thanks,
JR

There were two different types of Sivlerados in 2007. The "Classic" body style and whatever they call the current body style. The classic truck engines had 24x cranks and the sensors should match those of your 99 pretty close. However, I believe that the current body style trucks had 58x cranks and a few sensors in different locations. That will make the swap a little more difficult.

The easiest way to tell if the engine will work is if the cam sensor is on the timing cover instead of behind the intake. The 58x crank engines have the cam sensor on the timing cover and I'm pretty sure that the crank sensor is gray instead of black.

Now some 6.0 trucks did come with dbw , it wasn't until 2005 that all gm trucks became dbw. All 5.3 trucks 99-02 were dbc.

Thank you fellas, I will take a look at the engine this weekend, and go from there. Please keep me posted on a any other possibilities, also, since this motor wont be swapped into my truck for maybe another 2-4 months from now I have some time and flexibility to look into other combinations, by the way this Monday I will be getting back my truck with a high performance 4L60E transmission, how would this play into the swapping game? Thanks everyone for the help
