Default Crazy issue!! Vehicle wont rev past 4500 but will in gear?

With clutch pressed in or in neutral vehicle will not rev past 4500 if you slam the throttle it sticks there and doesnt fluctuate much. Even if I roll into the throttle slowly when reaching 4500 it doesnt move.

So then I put it in gear whether 2nd or 3rd and start driving vehicle passes 4500 everytime with no issue. Only happens when out of gear..

At first I was thinking springs, or pushrod issue, or abuse management variables in tune. Not sure though vehicle drives great in and out of boost, and no drivetrain noise. There is one other small issue of when I downshift a higher rpm's and get back on the throttle quick car falls flat on face. I think these might be linked as it is the same feeling of not being able to pass 4500 and hitting a brick wall while accelerating. But when I duplicated the issue I was unable to catch what rpm it occurs. I believe these might be linked as they feel the same just seems like a bigger issue under max accel.

Any help or incite would be appreciated.

Well I have heard of a similar thing before, but it might not be your issue. My tuner set my rev limiter to like 3000rpms in Park that way some jackass couldn't get in the car and rev the **** out of it if I wasn't around or something.

What are you doing, man? Why are you revving it in neutral?

The PCM is smarter than you are and it's protecting the engine from you.

So how does one execute a 6000 rpm clutch drop on the starting line?

I'm pretty sure that nearly every LSx enthusiast has free revved their car to over 4500 at some point, especially after exhaust mods or when a new cam is installed.

My stock M6 doesn't have any provision to limit the rpms with the clutch pushed in or in neutral. Not sure if that is a feature that can be turned on, as I know many late model automatic vehicles have something similar.

That is not even close to what is going on. I can rev my car in neutral to 7K if I want. The pcm has nothing to do with weather you can rev it neutral past 4500 unless it has been told to do so (ie tuning).

Why would someone who would do this be anywhere near your car when you are not around???

I know what you mean, but you just never know. I am 22 and go to school still, so if my brother or parents decided to move the car when I am not around or something.

I LOL'd at this point.

You can set the rev limit in park, neutral, gear, etc where ever you want via tuning software.

I once fucked with a buddy after I tuned his car, and set his rev limiter to 2500 while in gear. Then made him buy me a steak at Longhorns before I would remove it.

Well the engine is built and isnt scared of 7000rpm and boost when driving... How else am I supposed to drag launch

I wonder if my tuner had something set in the neutral setting cause it is at 4500 everytime. I'm going to give him a shout tommorrow. About time to up the boost and retune anyway. And when it happens when shifting thru gears while accelerating hard it is normally after a fast shift. Wonder if its sensing neutral and locking me out. Only happens while accel once in a while. But everytime in neutral.

Engine is new.
