1998-2000 LS1: Cam & Spring Only Results
real world feedback on your experiences.
I did a search, but too many unrelated posts turned up. Here's
the deal:
Looking to find those with stock 1998-2000 LS1 engines who
have changed the camshaft and springs only. I'd rather not get
into those who are fly-cutting pistons.
If you have some exhaust and intake work done, that's cool as
well. Please post your dyno numbers, 1/4 track times/MPH.
Cam and spring specs would be awesome as well.
Wanting to see if anyone has pulled off 375+ HP at the wheels,
and ~ 12.8 down the track while maintaining a decent idle and
street manners.
Thanks!
P.S. This is not for my car if anyone is wondering. Please see
my thread on transmission suggestions as I'll need some advice!

Cam only you should be in the 11s all day. Lots of people put down way more than 375 wheel with cam only.
Tell your buddy to troll LS1 tech a little bit
I've read quite a bit about mid 12's with camshafts, but not much about
11's (must need DR/slicks for that).
The engine that we're building is stuck in a smaller, 280Z body so comparing
ET's will be difficult.
He's doing 11.7@120 right now with a somewhat mild cam and Comp 918's and stock engine.
If I can get some success stories from Fbody guys getting the power that
you both mention, I'm sure we can chop a couple 10ths from my friend's car
and keep the engine well mannered on the street.
Even my heavily modified motor is good on idle and fuel economy.
Basically I'm wondering if anyone is pulling off these 375 HP+ cam/spring LS1's
without fly cutting and changing heads, etc.
So far, it's good news. Thanks!
