Default what heads with trex/fast combo?

My last motor had a lifter decide it didnt like working anymore and rotated and took my MS4 out. While i loved my MS4, the only cars that i couldnt pull on were the 2 TRex cars that i had ran :/

So being that i need a new cam im going to switch over to the TRex cuz im envious of it

I have sleeved 347 with fully built bottom end, morel link bar lifters (now lol) yella terras and a ported fast 92.

Ive never seen a h/c trex setup that i can remember. Im sure some trickflows or big AFRs will work, but id like some experience in here to help me. I didnt have to cut my pistons for the MS4 and would like to keep it that way, but will if i absolutely have to while the motor is currently out of the car.

Post your results and setups with your TRex

I have the stage 3 Patriot heads. (2.08/1.60/68cc) there were two choices of stage 3's I believe these are the ones I got. I also got the MLS gasket set

I did not fly cut,
Numbers were 447rwhp with 5 degrees put into the tune, I didn't have a timing tuner then for the nitrous, I will be retuned in the spring.

I would think it would be more like 470+ to the wheels with no degrees pulled. Thats through manual trans. T56

I think you will like this cam, though its nothing to be happy about with stock gears and under 3k rpm, But done up with the rite combination and your car will be a beast

The run below is on spray 150wet, numbers were 600/615

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx966_1obLk

Forgot to mention run was with an TSP true dual X-pipe and 2 sweet thunders, it was way to loud in case your wondering.

This is a combo I would like to run. in for some more info, Thing should be a beast. Whats the budget? The as cast 220 TF would be decent. But some worked over AFR by mamo would be crazy.

I would pull the heads off and the oil pan, remove the rod bolts and pull the pistons and rods out the top of the block and have them fly cut, because from what I understand when I talked to thunder racing theres a very limited selection of after market heads. I wanted my stock heads milled and they told me I could t because piston to valve clearance is so close.

If you want to get the most power out of the setup you will mill whatever heads you choose to go with and you will flycut the pistons to save ur *** later for ptv.. if I had the money id do trickflow 215s with hand finishing by advanced induction or another top quality head company

i know there are a lot of people making tons of power with h/c trex setups. Im not looking to break any records, i just cant argue with the proven abilities of the off the shelf trex. If stg 3 patroit heads and a trex making 470ish and dont have to cut the pistons then thats an option. To mill the heads, cut the pistons yada yada for an extra 10 wheel isnt something i would do. If i have to cut the pistons to be SAFE then i will

what valve sizes with the stage 3 head?too big of valve too close to the cylinder wall can hurt port flow .a head with a 13.5 valve angle will help with clearence.Geoff at EPS helped develope some of the thunder racing cams,I would think his new lobes mite be better.PIB made 461 hp with some home ported 241s and a big EPS cam.

Ive got a 3K budget for hard parts. Ive been looking at thunders site all day trying to figure out my setup and i think ive come to this conclusion, I am of course going to call thunder monday and talk to them first but how does this sound.

Trex v.2
Patroit 64cc LS6 heads (2.02/1.57)
MLS 5.7 head gaskets
reusing my 7.4 TSP pushrods
1.7 Yella Terra's
Morel Link bar lifters (not the street version)
Melling hi volume hi pressure oil pump

I need to see if the heads come with springs though. My PRC duals have 7Kish around them so they need to be replaced for safety anyway.

Sound okay to anyone?

Your going to have to be real careful selecting a head with good p/v clearance. When a cam has that small p/v clearance you need atleast stock p/v. The prc 215 heads are available with 59.5cc chambers and still clear the trex.

Most cylinder heads will either not clear, or won't give you a healthy compression jump. The prc 215s will add good compression without the need to cut the pistons!

he is looking at patriots most likely due to price so I don't think afr, TFS or 215 prc are in the budjet...

I agree just get some AI or TEA 243s
