I had a mechanic (who has now disappeared) put together a 5.3L iron block LS for me. He took a completely bare iron block, painted it, and then put together a long block. I picked it up and took it to the shop installing the motor. The shop installing the motor noticed the following crack in the center of the passenger side motor mount triangle today.
What do you guys think? Is the block still good? Should I just weld the crack and put it in, or pull everything apart and get another block?
Thanks!

Just looked back at the block. Indeed, it is where the AC compressor mounts. Also, a razor blade slim piece of metal will go into the crack about 1/4"
Am I hearing a thumbs up as far as using the block then? Are there no oil or water journals in that wall area of the block. Should I braze or weld the crack?
Thanks!

Ryan, it does appear to be in a less vulneral area than if it was at an engine mount or on a cylinder. I would have a welder give it a shot if possible and let her rip.
I thought you would get more feedback on here.
