Default any idea where this oil leak is from? pic

ok, the front of the car is jacked up and has not been running for about a month, the oil still drips. i was thinking oil pan. but theres drips on the starter (pic) and thats higher than the oil pan.
i was thinking rear main, but it hasnt been running?> any ideas?
i was going to do the oil pan gasket, but if thats not it, i dont want to change it for nothing.

any input...

try popping off the inspection cover..and shine your light up by the rear main seal, got a bad feeling thats what you might have leaking.

I would wipe all that down to get it clean and dry. Then let it sit for a few days and then go have another look. Who knows by looking at all those wet spots. Looks like oil has been blowing around for awhile during driving so its hard to pinpoint with that going on. You could have multiple leaks or just one. Wipe it down and find out!

I have a similar situation, it seems that my problem is the rear main seal Is it too hard to change it?

^ Pull the trans. Should be able to yank it out from the back, IIRC.

ok, i might do the oil pan now, im doing long tubes and motor mouts, oil pan shouldnt be that hard with all them parts already out.

i did degrease the whole underneath, and let it sit, and this is what happened, it drips without the car running...

the valve covers are already replaced.. i was thinking rear main also. but not running will it leak?

I'd do the oil pan gasket, rear cover gasket, and rear main. Whats your pcv set-up?

Mine leaked in around the same spots and ended up being the oil pressure sending unit.

Oil pressure sending unit. Its easy to fix just time consuming because you should pull the intake manifold. Rear main is not fun unless your doing a torque converter/clutch replacement or tranny rebuild while your at it.

I am able to replace my oil pressure sending unit without removing the intake in about 5 minutes with the special socket from the parts store. ( yes behind the intake more towards the driver side)
