Default Spun rod bearing and $2500, what to do?

The motor in my camaro died, the block is still OK. What would you do in my situation?

Just have it rebuilt by a local trusted shop. Try and pull/install it yourself to save a load. Thats what I would do.

I would throw a 6.0 in it. For what your going to have in a rebuild buy a low mileage 6.0

Define "died".

Wink

Cost me $4K to rebuild my LS1, forged internals, Ferrea valves, balanced and blue printed. My advise, rebuild with quality parts by a reputable machine shop. If you buy a used/junker LSx you really have no idea what you are getting.

Yup I'm just about ready to touch $8,000 on my 408.... every little peices you have to buy or fix adds to your build price quick

Take the crank to a machine shop and have them turn it. Then buy the correct sized bearings. Have the rods resized and then add some arp rod bolts and your good to go. That's the cheapest way to do it.

You could go ahead and buy the $450 eagle H-beam rods and get you a set of pistons for around $700 then turn the crank and new bearings and bolts and what not and still fall under the $2500 mark.
