definatly go with the patriot billet cam if thos are your only choice, yes the stock push rods are the same length, but you want hardened so they do not flex, and definatly upgrade the springs/retainers

I have the Patriot 225/229 cam and it is a great street cam for stock heads that will make power to 6200 and stay flat til about 6500 before dropoff. Nice flat torque. I reused my stock pushrods and used PAC 1218 .600 lift springs with almost 20k miles on everything so far and still runs like a champ. Id prefer patriots dual gold valve spring and will be getting some along with new lifters and pushrods when I get heads..
I did it the cheap route and can be done. But do yourself a favor and upgrade it all at once.

what you mean by flat till 6500 before drop off? and flat torque. but you did use your stock pushrods and springs and had no issues because im looking into heads too and im tryin to figure out what heads are on my ls1 im assuming there 5.7L heads... but i was looking into some 799 5.3L heads... and trying to re-use some of my stock parts if there still good because my car onlyhas 62000 on it and its neer been raced or ran hard. let me know im learning lol
Many people sell ported LS6 heads, Patriot included, along with PRC from Texas Speed, Advanced Induction, Total Engine Airflow, etc..

What I mean by flat til 6500 and flat torque is if you look at a dyno graph you will see the power peak at 6200 and the line will stay flat until 6500 where the line starts to drop (lose power) and a flat torque line is always a plus. I did use stock pushrods, but put in PAC 1218 valve springs. Currently the stock rods have 110k on them. It is ADVISABLE and HIGHLY recommended to swap pushrods, especially due how cheap they are, but most people act like it's impossible to reuse stock pushrods, which is not true. Springs is a MUST if you go with a cam with a higher lift.

There are some that have made great power with them, others not so lucky,, but too many variables to determine the poor results imo. If your lookin for a decent budet head, these will work great for you. Although there are much better options out there, but at a price. To be honest I would rather give my money to texas speed or advanced induction, these 2 companies consistently put out better results than patriot... not bashing, just stating results Ive seen on dynos and the track.
