which cam for what i want?
Hi. Im trying to find a cam to eventually put in an ls1. I want a cam that is good on the street but still has 110-112 lsa, .550-.600 lift, prob 230's duration, and i would like for the powerband to start at least by 2000 and go to about 6200. Idk if im asking for too much to go into one cam or not. Ive looked into multiple cams and im kinda leaning toward the torquer v2 but i think i read somewhere that the powerband doesnt start till like 3000. So, if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

this comp cam maybe, revs a bit higher but starts at 2000rpm and is a 113 on a 109 center.

Why do you want a bigger cam? For the idle?

The wider the LSA the lazier the cam will be down low. For example, a 110 LSA cam will exhibit better torque than a 114 LSA cam. So, if you try to go bigger and want a cam that maintains better torque, you night a narrower LSA.

OP,
Call Comp Cams and tell them exactly what you are looking for. They can do custom grinds for a very small additional cost. They will be able to direct you to the best possible option, especially if you are willing to have them build you a custom cam.

It all depends on who you go with. In my opinion, I'd go with Alan Futral of Futral Motorsports. Go on his website, all the info you need is on there. He's the designer/maker of that cam Detoxx suggested; 228/230. You could always just tell him you want that same cam, but on a 110 LSA. I don't think it will cost you anymore than what he charges for his off shelf cams.

The lower the number on LSA the narrower not wider. Wider would be 117 for example. If you want power below 3000 then you definitely don't want to go any lower than 114 probably. You will have to decide if you prefer chop in the idle as you said or power down low. Can't have alot of both. Look at some of the sound videos on youtube of alot of the various popular cams for ls1 and that should help you decide on what sound you like if that is your priority or you can find a happy medium. The 224 @.050 duration cams sound pretty good on a 112 LSA and make pretty good power down low.

Clearance will depend on several factors including whether or not you change heads too. Chamber volume could effect clearance. The VRX4 and G5X3 should both clear with stock heads ,but, you should measure clearance to be sure. Both are very good cams , but, really need at least 3.73 gears but 4.10-4.11 would be better in a stick car. The VRX4 is milder duration than the g5x3. VRX4 would be the better of those two for what you are wanting but I would definitely not rule out some of the smaller ones like the thunder racing 224 on a 112 LSA.
