O holy hell!! Well there went that idea... I dont wanna be reving that high. at 6500 im scared of blowing ****. had it happen before been skitish ever since. Whats a lower rpm cam that will give the same sound and also give good power for a good price

and that will work on a stoke setup? I mean Ill be doing full exhaust and like lid and a chris1313 in the next month if not sooner. will that be enough to keep the cam healthy until I can get heads or mine ported?

I couldn't agree more in regards to purchasing a cam kit. There is a lot more that goes into a cam swap that people rarely mention, like a valve spring kit, head gaskets, water pump gaskets, oil pump, timing chain pushrod(that are the correct length), head bolts, lifters+lifter trays(depending on mileage), tuning for the cam and headers if u don't have them.

Not trying to scare u away from the cam idea because its a great upgrade but map things out a little first. All thats listed above doesn't even include the price of the install!

Sorry for the hijack but a smaller cam maybe better for your liking than an ms3. Tv2 may be more your or maybe a custom! geoff a eps, pat g, may help u out with something a little smaller with a low lsa for a more radical sound! call around

You're on a budget, ms3 is not a budget build cam.

You want to do an awesome budget setup.. Figure out what you have money for, ie the ram air, exhaust, etc etc... Get in touch with pat g.
Its an extra 50$ or so on the cam but the setup will run like most heads cam cars or an awesome cam only setup.

You will thank me.

Buy a pushrod length checker. Any vendor that sells pushrods will sell em.

Reverse split is not a bad idea for stock exhaust, but I would invest in exhaust first..228r Sounds better for you.

Default cam

I ran only this cam kit [springs & pushrods from TSP]for 2 yrs on a mail tune ...Left on the lmtr @ 6950 & shifted at 6800 = 11.86's YES it likes 3600 - 7000 rpm .It was a VERY fun cam with a 6 speed on the street .
Finally put rod bolts in after 6yrs & about 60 track passes & changed to a Pat G specd cam that lives in that same RPM range ....well maybe just a lil more.

228 is what most people go with for a DD.. It is an awesome all around cam and allows you to go budget friendly and run good times or more hardcore and still be able to run with the big cam guys.

I run a 228/228 .588 114... I still have a decent amount in my setup. With the current heads/cam I am shooting for 6.9s in 1500-2000DA with a race weight of around 3400.
You can most definitely have a stout street car with a smaller cam. 10 years ago a 228 cam was considered huge!

I have stock 856's I do believe and I am running a torquer2. Along with single Pac beehives springs and pushrods. It does great from 1800 up to 6000. Would also recommend ls2 chain.

Reverse split is a horrible idea for stock manifolds. The MAIN thing for a reverse split to make good power/preform good is an extremely free flowing exhaust.
