Default LS1 motor misfiring/idling rough (coil pack/lifter?)

Driving home last night the car was running fine.

Then when i took off from a light it started to sound as if it was missing badly and started to shudder then just died.

I had it towed home to not risk further damage. It still can start up but idles pretty rough then dies.

I have a mild cam (222/226 115 lsa) and valve train over haul with dual springs done about a year ago. Still running stock injectors.

Did plugs about 3 months ago.

Any clue what it could be?

Coil pack?
Injectors maxed out?
Something more serious?

Have you pulled a valve cover? I would want to check the valve springs if its missing like that. I would think a dead coil pack would definitely throw a code, unless it just hasn't run long enough for a code to pop up.

That's just crazy talk...everybody knows when your car acts up you immediately post to the Internal (meaning: under the hood) Engine Forum!

Replaced the coil pack on two cylinders that were testing a bit weak, and still running rough.

I'm gonna pull the plugs tomorrow and check for anything foul.

Used a tester and the injectors are functioning fine, so I'm thinking it's gotta be a plug.

Pulled the valve cover today after checking the plugs, plugs were okay...

But it in fact was a broken valve spring.

I had PRC Duals 1500's I believe. I thought the would have lasted more than 20k on such a mild cam.

My mechanic was telling me that he has seen far less broken springs on Patriot springs.

Oh well, it is good insurance to have dual springs no matter how mild of a cam, I'm glad a I did.

Good catch and here's hoping for no valvetrain damage. Replace 'em all for peace of mind.

What installed height did you measure back when they were put in?
