Are Comp Lifters Better Than LS7 Lifters?

Just an idea, but the noise could be the exhaust valve closing due to the faster ramp rate of the lobes. The XER's had really fast ramp near .005" so I get a bit or "sewing" machine. No lifter change or preload change helped. I haven't tried a cam with a different lobe profile but I will be in the near future.
I had Pat G spec be a cam that controlled the exhaust better and I think it used LXL or LSL lobes, cannot remember which, but I never got around to having it made. i am currently using the comp XER profile that comes with the TSP 228r cam.

With a really really and I mean really ridiculously light valve-train I might use them, but there are so many other better lobe families IMO to chose from I just never use them.
I've done many LSL/LXL, LXL/LXL, LXL/HUC, HUC/HUC lobe combinations and not had one person complain about valve-train noise with .060"-.080" pre load.
Just to add to the Straub Technologies talk, Chris is much more than an "internet parts distributor".

Sorry guys I work two jobs and can't always be on here. Actually the expensive comp link bars are made by comp. No comment on them though. I do work for Chris, and we do not make them. However, Chris and Ed Morel and good friends and he knows everything there is to know about these lifters. There is more to think about other than RPM's with the street series lifter. Lift and duration are big factors on that. When you get around .600 lift and 235 duration @50 I advise going to the better lifters. OP sorry I posted so many times without giving you my input on your topic.

Not being the same piece means new machining programs, new control tools and control sequences, and because of tighter tolerance, more rejected parts (assuming the parts are starting from the same point same place...)
Numbers are not adding...Comp is +/- $70 above...that's % their margin on the same product GM is selling by thousands for the same end profit with a lower margin...
I would follow someone's advice that knows about Lifter Business!
Buy Mexican, and be happy with.

If the XER lobe was the last lobe on the face of the earth I had to choose from....let's just say I don't ever use the XER lobes. Too harsh a closing ramp, too aggressive tappet lift, too aggressive IMO in general just like the LSK lobes.

We have had customers and one employee that were having issues with LS7 lifters that switched to the Caddie ones and have yet to report a problem. SO from what customers are telling me they are happier with the Caddies over the LS7s that they themselves swapped.

No worries. Just letting you know what we have seen/heard in the last 9 months. LS7 coming apart like crazy and the Caddy ones holding strong.
The Morels are still worth the money though imo.
