six of sixteen rockers breaking after h/c swap
Has anyone had rocker issues after install? I had six of them three in each side.fall apart. The bearings on the inside just fell apart had to magnet the pieces out. Changing oil in the morning. Hopefully didnt damage.anything swapped all 16 with.another stock set i had. Less.miles on em. Hopefully resolves issue. I started.car and it idled fine without knocking. Havnt drove it yet. All valve train is new. Except rockers.

Yes, the trunnion upgrade does not change the rocker, all it does it replace the center needle bearings in the rocker with a trunnion bearing. Eliminating the needle bearings provides a more stable platform for the rocker to rotate on and plus you don't have to worry about those little needle bearings getting in your engine if one was to fail.

They come apart after 15-20min of driving. Maybe less. All under 4k RPMs. How do i check if they are coil binding? Im sure thos little bearings are all over the place again. I magnet all.that i could get the first time and when i changed oil abunch of them were on the drain plug. Could this be the beginning og the end of my motor? Im taking off valve.covers.now

A rocker loosing bearing needles is common, but not six of sixteen within 20 minutes. Something isn't right. You used the rocker pedestal right? Did you check your preload? What cam and springs are you running?

yep, something is not correct. Ive done 30 cam installs and have never seen a rocker break (other than a ls7 rocker).
Wheres the rocker breaking at? post some pictures and post cam specs and/or other mods.
Hows did it run before everything started breaking?

To the guy above, he said the bearings fell apart. The rocker arm itself he didn't mention that physically breaking.
Op: do the trunion upgrade and never look back. I've done it on high mileage rockers as added insurance and peace of mind.

While the trunion upgrade is a good idea, there appears to be something else wrong here. And if he doesn't fix the core problem first, he will just break end up breaking the upgraded rocker bearings also, or worse!

that's true and deserves some investigation. But the rocker arm bearings are a common failure

ok i pulled valve cover again. since this is second time it does this. its the same pistons on the driver side, and i have not done passenger side yet. 3 intake again on driver side. i shimmed the springs before i installed heads; using the installed height that came printed on box with my new PAC springs. they are 1208x spring kit. im using 7.425 push rods with thunder racing trak cam. i have another thread following whole build in this forum.
ill try to get pictures soon. the best i can describe it is the rockers are still bolted on as they should, but the ones that malfunctioning is pretty much the inside guts of the rockers falls out. the two little cup shaped things and a bunch of those stupid little metal dowels that i love to magnet out of my head
232/235 .595 .644 112lsa 799 heads no mill. stock mls felpro gaskets
my next move is to pull all shims and reassemble again. hopefully i have enough rockers left. i should. the pedestal was installed for the guy who asked. what gots me is so far the driver side is same pistons and same three intakes.

This is one of the smaller big cams thunder racing sales on its shelf. Since it was a shelf cam that many people use with stock heads i did not think i needed to check ptv. The push rod legnth was recommended by patrickG for this specific cam. Unfortunately i.did not measure i based everything off research and good sources. Yet obviously a key measurement is off. My next move was maybe pulling shims from all springs and swapping to smaller valve seals vs. the bigger metal ones i have now.. Also check if they got crushed or not. The lifters are are stock new ones for ls1 and ls2 i believe. Summit daid they good for 5.7 and 6.0

Do you have the OEM seals on there now? The 1208X requires the PAC-S129 spring seat. If you are running a beehive seat/seal combo with the dual springs you are more than likely binding the inner springs.

You bought a cam from one guy got a pr length recomendation from someone else and springs from someone else and are wondering why you are having issues.
I would contact the person who speced the cam and get the springs for that cam measure the pr length and upgrade the rockers
