And the saga continues. I lowered it down and was going to take it for a spin. It won't idle. It had this problem before and the battery was bad. This is a new Odyssey Deep Cycle battery. It idled up for about 5 mins last week. And today, nothing. It hard starts and then dies even when feeding it gas.

I unplugged the spark plugs on the passenger side to get to that coolant plug I forgot. That's all good now. I double-checked everything. Only thing I can't reach is the actual plug on #8. I haven't checked the CPS either. So I don't know if the coolant got down on there and ruined it? Seems unlikely...

Since the car is on the ground... and very low. I don't have a good option to jack it back up in the air with my current jack. Even before I lowered, I'd drive it onto my ramps and jack it up further if needed. I should have fired the car before putting it on the ground, but it was idling great last week. So right now, my troubleshooting consists of cussing until I figure a way to jack it up without twisting it up.

What could this be? What should I be looking for? Fuel and spark I know. 58psi fuel pressure and spark.

The plugs are new. Fuel pump is new. I haven't checked the plugs yet. But it wasn't running overly rich last week. I didn't smell fuel and I have no cats and a TON of overlap.

Bad thing is, I don't know how to even get it over to EPS. I can't get it up on my car carrier without it running. And Geoff wanted to look at it. He thinks it's something simple probably with the fueling. I did mess with the lines last night zip tying them up tight. I don't believe I pulled anything loose.

Help

I've said it before. HP Tuners was the first "mod" I did to my car 10 years ago and is still the best. Would have been great to read diagnostics in the driveway.

Check for fouled plugs. If it cranks, obviously not the battery. Doubt the CPS is toast. It could be a vacuum leak. Did you check the voltage going to the fuel pump? You could have a short which would cause it to cut out intermittently. Might be a TPS issue or MAF issue as well.

Also check your 02's.

MAF isn't hooked up... it's a 100mm and not tuned for it yet.

Like I said, it ran and idled fine last week. No change to anything. Just it's a finicky bitch.

Basically how it acts:

CEL could just be your MAF or it could also show something else too. Push it to AutoZone?

(anybody around you have a reader at least?)

Well, after a bit of a disagreement, I'm off to EPS in the morning. The fun will be loading it up on a trailer. lol

Then the diagnosis/tune can happen.

CEL came on when it was running. I figured the MAF - it hasn't been tuned out yet.

Well, I took it out for a drive tonight. The brakes need to be power bled, so there wasn't much brakes, but enough for a bit of a drive and tune. John Weeks lives around the corner from me an came by and got the tune sorted. Idles great, driving nice and smooth, and will get it dyno'd next week. Then a full street tune to make sure the trans and everything is shifting perfect will be done.

So far, I'm loving it. Will get some in-car videos tomorrow. Was more focusing on not wrecking with soft brakes or pushing the trans too much. With the setup I've rigged, it's actually very hard to tell if the pan is at the correct level or not. It looks close, but didn't want to blow a shiny new FLT built trans.

Thanks John!!!

And another - without the brakes, I just put the parking brake on and left it in reverse. So this is it idling in gear. My old iPhone doesn't capture nearly the bass of the system. Blah.

Consider this: Kooks LT headers and the TD system is only a few hundred more than Kooks LT/Kooks Y-Pipe/Borla exhaust. When the price is that close, you do the true duals. They tuck nicely, went on easily, and are works of art. And will support whatever I throw at the car and last forever.

Btw, that's it idling at 1K too. I haven't even asked John to take the idle down or pull timing to get it to chop like hell. Then it'll be even nastier.

All very good points. I personally wonder how much power is gained on the Kooks TD vs the TSP. I know quality wise its in another realm.

Well, considering how loud it is and the fact that a Trans Am without something in the rear fascia for exhaust pipes looks shitty, I'd definitely want the exhaust going out the back.

For a Camaro, I'd do the TSP all day as I don't think they need exhaust tips. The only issue is the loudness. So I'd probably position the turn-downs 45 degrees to not have it just pounding the ground.
