Default cam with AI 226 heads??

I just purchased some 243 cnc 226 milled to 63cc heads. The cam the guy I bought heads from was speced for a 6 speed as I have. It is something like 227/232 113 lsa. Do you think I should buy this cam or just get a cam similar off the shelf cam and which one. Im looking for good driveability but like the sound of a cam. I want the loppey sound but not the poor drivablity. I want low to mid range power.

My dad has an off the shelf comp cam 228/230 589/590 @112 LSA with hus 226 AI heads and it drives awesome and runs it's *** off ! I'd say maybe a tsp 228 cam or really anything in that range will perform well and give you the driveability you're looking for.

Just get the cam from AI too if you haven't purchased yet. I ran their 226/230 grind and it was perfect. Smooth driveability with the lope you're looking for.

The guy i purchase had that cam speced by pat g it is 227/232 113 lsa. Anyone have anything to say about this cam spec?/ I can buy it from the guy who I got heads from. I just dont know jack **** about cams. It was orginnaly specd for 226/230 but was slightly bigger at the 227/232. Would this be a good choice. It will save me the hassle of getting a custom spec and the guy had same setup which was just a concidence. He had a 6 speed ls1 car with 3.42 gears. Can someone tell me a little about how they think this cam will perfom

That cam would work well with those heads, but maybe you can let us know what goals you have for the car? Are you looking for more low end torque/under the curve power, or are you looking for something to make big numbers up top? Is it a daily driver, or more of a weekend car? Are you going to take it to the track? I think if you can answer those questions, the guys can lead you in a better direction. If I were you, I'd talk to Martin at Tick Performance and let him know all the details and he can hook you up with what you'll want.

I stated my goals in the first post. Im looking for a good dd which this cam was specd for. I would like usuable power low to mid range and I like the sound of a lopey cam just dont want a car that bucks like a horse. So I will talk to marti from Tick seems to be the theme here. Thanks

The springs he had installed are only good for about 600 lift on heads. Is that holding me back and should i switch. What is the 111 +3 mean for lsa could you explain a little. I need to do some serious reading on cams to learn more. With these heads Im sure with right set up I can hit 450 rwhp. I just found out with this cam I would be looking at more like 420 from the tuner who is going to install my heads and cam. I payed a pretty penny for these heads not gonna lie but very happy I did but would like at least 430 with the ls6 intake and more when I upgrade to the fast eventually. I just look at the heads in awe lol.

Exactly what I came in here to suggest. Flowtech Induction Street Sweeper HT. Awesome street manners and absolutely violent in an actual USABLE power range.

**Edit** Just saw your springs. I'd pull them and sell them. .600 springs don't get you very far now-a-days. I'd get a set of Platinums from Brian Tooley. Titanium retainers, seats, seals, locks... everything for an awesome price.

If you haven't upgraded your trunions in the rocker arms, do so.

BT Racing Platinums

Could you get the real .050 specs?
As mentioned above 227/232 113, it is nice street cam, about 4* overlap so noticeable lope with proper exhaust and idle setting.
